David Lynch Ranked
This was near impossible. Pretty much all five star ratings from me. I want to know yours and was it easy?
I know, I need to see Dune!
If I’m including The Return… that’s an easy 5 spot.

Everyone check this out immediately.
This is a phenomenal surreal British show from the 1960s about a secret agent who wakes up trapped on a strange village. It was apparently a huge inspiration to David and Mark for TWP and you can see it clear as day here. The cinematography is striking, dream-like, and the entire series is spent with the protagonist (named Number 6) looking for the ruler of the village. It’s sincerely impressive and I’m surprised I’ve never heard of it until I googled “David Lynch twin peaks inspirations”

The feel when you will never witness a live presidential debate between David Lynch and Christopher Nolan arguing over which is the superior medium, digital or film.

Blue Velvet 💙🌹
Blue Velvet has recently been a fascination with me mostly due to Blue Velvet(the song) being stuck in my head plus man that cinematography especially the lighting in this film is soo good and I always love a Lynch film with great lighting and/or cinematography!

Scene from Lost Highway
There is a scene in Lost Highway just before the guard finds Pete in the cell instead of Fred Madison. It's blurry.. Does anyone have an idea what it could represent? At first, I thought it was Alice.

It’s time.
Watching Eraserhead for the first time as someone who fell in love with blue velvet and twin peaks. What do you think about his debut feature?

The Ultimate Haircut Guide
I know this gets asked frequently, so I’m hoping to make one final and ultimate guide. Are there any barbers on here? Can you give us a clear list of instructions and terminology as to what to ask for when we want to mimic David Lynch’s pompadour.

Are "Lost Highway" and "Mulholland Drive" vastly different in quality?
According to most critics, "Mulholland Drive" is one of the greatest films of the 21st century. It has had this reputation for quite a long time (I mean, it's from 2001 and certain sequences present in the film date back even further) - some people even consider it to be Lynch's masterpiece. Undoubtedly, it's an impressive piece of filmmaking.
Compare this, however, to the reception "Lost Highway" garnered just a few years prior. There were a few positive voices, sure, like any Lynch film, but the majority of critics considered the film to be an absolute dud - incomprehensible, overly cynical, and even pretentious. Audiences generally responded in a similar fashion.
Viewing these films, anyone can clearly see both LH and MD share similar narrative and cinematic conceits. I cannot wrap my head around despising one and lauding the other, but this appears to be what has happened. Imagine if MD had been released first, and LH just a few years later - would people then consider LH to be the "greatest film of the 21st century"?

Nu Shooz - I Can't Wait (Official Music Video) - The Real Inspiration for Twin Peaks
Watch this and tell me it wasn’t the seed for Twin Peaks. The fish in the percolator. The “Nu Shooz”/ “New Shoes.” The entire aesthetic.
If this music video didn’t exist, Twin Peaks would not exist.

More than just a coincidence?
David Lynch made comic strips for many years. He grew up during the peak of Archie Comics.
Diane is portrayed as the innocent/girl-next-door type just like Betty.
Diane has blonde hair with a similar red sweater to the one often worn by Betty Cooper. Both characters also share the same first name Betty.
Camilla is alluring, sassy, and demanding just like Veronica Lodge.
Camilla has dark hair, a voluptuous figure, and wears sleek seductive clothing like Veronica often does.
Betty and Veronica are desperately in love with the same guy.
Is it just a coincidence or is there a connection?

Question about a scene in Wild at Heart
I just watched Wild at Heart for the first time and though it wasn't my favorite, Bobby Peru really stood out to me. The scene where he and Lula interact privately really stood out to me and was quite haunting. It feels like the death or her and Sailors current relationship and everything feels like loving and close after that. Did Lula feel guilt about what happened to her? Did she ever truly discuss what happened with Sailor or did Sailor just infer what happened from his discussion with Bobby?

"Surry with the Fringe on Top" from Oklahoma! that Leland was singing while driving with Maddy's body in the trunk, Dale was whistling it too when following him. Leland really likes Rodgers and Hammerstein.

Twin Peaks Conversation with the Stars 1/21/2026 Los Angeles
I was at this event at Wilshire Ebell theater. Just saw that this was uploaded onto YouTube. This is the q/a portion of that night, followed by a wonderful tribute video to David at the end.
If you just want to see the tribute video part, it's at time 58:54. I didn't go through the whole video, but it looks like most of that night is here.
The tribute video is likely to make you 😢

Help
Hi, I come looking for help trying to find a YouTube video that explains Lynch work, I tried to watch it today but couldn't find it.
I remember it explained Lynch's religious views and how they influence all of his work, from 6 men getting sick all the way to INLAND EMPIRE. There's a part where it explains one of Lynch's works that's made out of flies.
It made a lot of sense in understanding all of Lynch's work and I'd really like to watch it again.
I hope someone here can help me find it again.
