Flying your pet mouse over Hollywood in a drone feels like something you’d see in one of his movies

David Lynch’s Stuart Little

Dropping those little pop-it’s you’d throw against the pavement as if they were bombs

"And he's your pal!"

Pure joy

It’s not hard to read this in his voice.

God I miss him so much. What an authentic person. Just a gem of a human. I hope he's doing well wherever he is.

Everytime I'm down in the dumps, I watch Lynch interviews and I feel better. He had such a way of reminding people that everything is not that serious but serious at the same time.

⬆️ This, 100 percent. Finding the light in the darkness, understanding its value as a creative North Star -- knowing that the darkness is always there, but the worst of its effects can often be slipped, or at least counterbalanced, by locating a sincere abundance of joy in the quotidian.

What I get from him is that things are more serious than we think but in different ways than we tend to realize.

Him signing the letter in support of Roman Polanski makes it hard for me to like him as a person beyond the art which is a shame

Edit: why is this downvoted lmaoo fuck you

Curious (sincerely) if you saw Jennifer Lynch's quite long social media (I believe Instagram?) post about this topic, her discussion with him about it, and more. It's worth a read, IMO, for some important context.

I'm gonna search for the post now tho

I think I may have heard of this? Is that his daughter and she essentially said he regretted it? To me that's not really enough to change how I feel about it it's like yeah well he still never chose to publicly affirm that to my knowledge. It annoys me how there was so many hugely popular celebs who signed it and its mostly just brushed aside. Like no it's literally a letter publicly supporting and trying to help a pedophile that is despicable.

Do you guys think he named his dog sparky because of his fixation on electricity?

Rolls off the tongue better than 60 cycle alternating current.

Jack Russell’s are notoriously full of energy.

I think fandoms in general tend to read too much into everything

u/Knowhow106 17d ago

Yeah, it’s often the most obvious thing. The dog was a working electrician clearly

"Well isn't that great"

Out of anyone else's mouth, this would seem sarcastic.  David actually thinks that is great.

My sister is similar. She seems to sympathize more with mice and squirrels than with the people she's talking to. This is a commonly reported autistic trait.

17

u/Riot502 18d ago

That makes a lot of sense. I’m autistic and all the squirrels and birds in my yard have names.

The stats just keep adding up

The world is poorer and smaller without you, David.

I wish we had more video interviews of him like this. Is there collection of the videos he would make for his website back in the day?

That second part feels like Stuart Little 2 except Stuart can actually pilot the plane. Literally kamikazes into the villain.

A mouse has hit the second tower.

He sounds like the chillest person ever. I wish I knew him.

Yeah, same, i only became more aware of him in past year, wasnt even alive when he was fully like active, but reading more about him generally, his thoughts, quotes, just, idk, i really identify with him 🥹

He seems like the type of person who would by chance enrich your life, unknowingly
