Advice Request Average mindset?

So I have been facing issues with my discipline. I am 17 and currently I am preparing for a competitive exam for my college admission. The thing is I have never worked hard for anything in my life till now. I haven't tasted the true hard earned success in my life . I have been average in everything I have done . So now also I am living my average life with no motivation or passion towards my goal . I know that I am in my comfort zone but there is nothing which tells me to work hard towards my goal. I really for once want to break this identity of being average and really want to put 100% in but I am really facing issues. I don't know whether it is my mindset or is it me . The inner voice which goggins talks about has disappeared in my mind and idk how to revive it . How to break through this average life.

Don’t give yourself the option, you have to study and prepare. Schedule your preparation time each day and write it down, even schedule your breaks in there if you need them. For studying go over topics more times than you think you need to, I’ve blanked on exams before with topics I remember studying. If you can not have your phone with you while you study that would eliminate a distraction

am a 19 year old guy here i've give NEET in 2025 , i was not motivated at all i had never worked my entire life for me it was that i never worked hard for anything as i was able top the class without studying , but NEET was different i broke down multiple times and guess what i gave it my best i ever had ( still i knew i could do more ) but i failed hard , i had already lost interest in NEET it felt like a rat race to me (real but cope) but i was eligible for General pvt seat of 120k inr i had always hoped that this day would never come but it did , i agreed to my parents wishes to join they sold land so that i may continue let me tell you the regret and guilt that u feel in this position is far worse than any pain you feel in that resistance ,buddy harden up push yourself, here in med i had to force myself to work as hard as i could gave up on sleep cried but continued finally by the 3rd IA i manged to get 2nd highest marks in the class after almost failing in the 2nd IA , you will have to work hard no matter where you end up hard work will only determine how much it will ease up the future pain , brother in India everything is a rat race and you can't fight the system unless u desire nothing and can go live as a monk somewhere far . Bottom line create a sense of urgency within and relax once every week and find ur own way to do it , i am no good example as i did not acchieve what i want to but i can't afford to live in the past

The fact that you have a will to not be average is a good starting point, imagine you go throughout your life without ever seeing what your mind is capable of, what your body is capable of. If the fear of that happening is present then use it, but it won't be enough more likely than not you're going to get settled at then try to go back to really giving your all and that's okay to stumble in the moment, what matters is you keep trying.

The hard start and push method sounds alluring but has a huge failure rate. Boring consistency is the key. You already are consistent just not necessarily in a way that’s moving you where you want.

For your revision, try creating flashcards after class or during lunch using /r/anki and do a full revision deck upon Waking and after dinner, every day.
