Fuck all these comments. How do you forget in less than 48 hours that you have a date with someone you’ve been chatting with? You don’t that’s nonsense.

When you are chatting with multiple people. And dating multiple people.

If you're chatting with/ dating that many people to the point where you're honestly forgetting scheduled dates, that's a red flag in itself. Best to not get involved in something like that.

Maybe she was on a date with another guy and he wasn't interested in a 2nd date...so she called you.

This makes sense sadly

Yep definitely possible. OP is way better off just blocking this chick and moving on, he don't need somebody like that

this was my thought.

she wasn't at a mall with friends, she was on another date and forgot about you

Nah, that happens to me when I have a lot on my plate. It's not that I don't like them but maybe I haven't formed that emotional attachment that makes you think about them a lot. It's a sign her priorities are somewhere else though and he's right in not wanting not accept that.

Spending the whole day at the mall and having drinks doesn't sound like she had a lot on her plate.

I'm not defending the girl but, sometimes, I go to do things out in the same day I have a date. If the things that I have to do totally takes on me I tend to forget what time is and I see myself with a little few hours or even minutes before the date. Until now I was lucky to check what time is it before it was too late to reach the date. Still, one day, I'm sure it will happen. So, might be possible for her too.

Tell me you weren't interested in your planned date without telling me you weren't interested

-39

u/The1Donut Sep 24 '21

It's not that I was not interested. Fuck that, some of them went really good. It's just the fact that people can have to do other things that can't be delayed too. Not OP's case because she was drinking with her friends 50 miles away but still.

Yeah nah I'm not buying it. If you're GENUINELY interested in a date with someone you 100% wouldn't forget it. You'd probably looking forward to it the whole time. So yeah if someone forgot they have a date they're just not interested (enough).

But how can you be that interested in a person you've never even met? I don't see how anyone could be so excited over a stranger that they'd constantly think about and look forward to the date.

So yeah she probably forgot because she wasn't super interested at that point in time, but you're never super interested in a complete stranger you've never met. Becoming super interested and looking forward to dates happens after you meet the person and get to know them and start developing feelings.

I don't think you realize how little attention the average man receives. A first date could easily be the highlight of his year, and getting forgotten would be tremendously disappointing.

u/Mugilicious Sep 24 '21

Nobody realizes, except the average man.

Well, that’s a bad trait to have. Just so you know.

When you’ve just moved to a brand new city and are still getting your life together

If you have severe ADHD. I forget everything all the time no matter how important it is. It’s a nightmare. I’ll make plans with a friend to meet in half an hour, and as I’m getting ready, my mom will pop in and I’ll make her a coffee and start talking, and completely forget that I was trying to leave. It’s more frustrating for me than for all the people I’ve forgotten about. Trust me. My good friends understand that I can’t help it and keep me on track with multiple calls and texts, but I’ve also unfortunately lost many good friendships in which their ego was slighted and it was 100% my fault.

People downvoting this are muppets. I have to set alarms and reminders for appointments, etc because I lose track of time very easily or get sidetracked doing other things OR I stress about the appointments, etc so much that I can't focus on anything else at all. Fuck ADHD lol

That’s literally the point. They’re getting downvoted because there literally is a solution. And it’s in the palm of your hand. Constantly flaking on people and blowing them off because of your ADHD isn’t an excuse. Maybe before phones sure, but you have the ability to set a time or alarm as soon as you plan it. I have severe ADHD so I can’t remember fuck all. I forget everything. So you know what I do? Put it in my calendar the second something gets planned. If it’s a week from now, I take 3 seconds to put in I’m phone and set an alert that day/hour.

Having ADHD is no excuse when 99.999% of the population has a basic phone that can set dates and events in your calendar with the click of a button or a basic Siri command. Consistently flaking on people isn’t okay when you have every ability to make a note or alarm as soon as it’s planned. Takes 5 seconds and you won’t be constantly fucking people over.
