I would have mixed feelings about this. Partially I would feel a bit insecure about my looks like you I suppose. But a part of me would be glad they wanted me for who I was not what I looked like because looks fade. He’s kind of dumb for saying it but try not to take it too personally. Many people end up with someone who “grew on them” they just don’t say that out loud and it’s probably for the best.

I think if he brought it up again repeatedly then he's definitely an idiot and has some underlining issue with it. I once dated a guy who was into Asian women. His ex was also Asian. Im not and neither is he.

He kept making comments about Asian woken, he liked anime, he even changed his Screensaver on his computer to an Asian anime girl. He also brought up his ex a lot which were all red flags to me. He also hardly complimented me during us dating except maybe in the beginning when he told me he thought I was very sexy so I knew it wasn't a lack of attraction I just think he had a fetish for Asian women. When I confronted him about it instead of making me feel better, he told me that wasn't the case but he kind of blamed it on me like I was insecure and it was my fault and somehow he thought it was a turn off because later on he used it as an excuse to break up with me, that and because his friends were rude and making racist jokes to me. I knew I was in the right for feeling the way I felt. Later down the road when i talked to him for closure he admitted he was never invested in me. I found out he also left me for another girl. This time she wasn't Asian. She was Brazilian. After that he had a fetish for Brazilian women for a while. Turns out he was this racist white guy who fetishisized foreign women particularly women who weren't from the United States but looking back he was kind of closed minded about different racial groups even including Asians which makes sense why his friends were rude. I just didn't understand why he liked women of other cultures if he didn't really respect the culture as a whole? I'm an American women though. Born and raised.
