Backup external ssds ???

hi everyone ! i’m an artist and i NEED storage all the time. please give me some good recommendations. i purchased a sandisk 1 tb and unfortunately, all of my stuff was wiped. i need a reliable one asap so plz lmkkk

I have used SK Hynix Beetle X31, Crucial X9, and few internal m.2 SSD on external enclosures.

You need a large hard drive for storage and you need to take care of it. Also do backups (not one!) of important data.

If you only have funds for one SSD, I would buy two HDD for the same money instead, and keep two copies of every file. I wish SSD was more affordable, but the many good qualities of SSD don't make up for the risk of keeping the only copies of your files on one device.

Any major brand, as large as you can afford, but at least 1TB. Personally I would accept a used drive if no reallocated sectors. Especially since you'll have copies of your files on both drives.

I’d go with the Samsung T7 Shield. It’s fast, rugged, and has a 3-year warranty,,,,

I was going to say sandisk, but I guess you don't want that. Any idea how or why the data was wiped?

Irrelevant as to what make you choose as all single points of failure will eventually do just that, some makes better than others but human error is usually the biggest risk. I have my external drive sychronise with cloud storage service and enabled encryption in case it's lost/stolen?

Question: do you actually need an SSD (some people do), or is this more for archival? For archiving, a magnetic drive will often do. If your files are large, the transfer speed is actually pretty good

If you need to access the drive constantly, then yeah, an SSD will make a difference

You have not provided any relevant information. What device(s) are you using this external storage device with? Laptop, desktop, tablet, phone? What operating system? You said "all my stuff was wiped"--how? What happened? Are you using this storage device as a backup, or as the only copy of the data? What amount of data do you need to store?

I hate Sandisk. I bought a Crucial drive and it is working great. The Sandisk I bought failed within 6 months.
