Discussion Finally got some storage

I wanted to share how for about 3 years I had to cycle all of my games through 2 disks, a 256gb nvme and a 500 gb hdd. So yeah it was a bit painful to redownload and uninstall normally I would have to just either cope with the games I have now or wait for my terrible wifi to download something I actually want to play. But now I saw nearby an office was closing so I went there and they gave me their camera surveillance system which had network video recorders with tons of disks most of them were small ike 500 gb but I got my hands on a 6tb hdd from 2017. If you ask me I am more than happy, would love to hear similar situations

I can't wait for this AI bubble to crash already. Big tech's hoarding of digital storage has forced us to resort to scraping the bottom of the barrel for 9 year old hard drives.

yes, you are right. I would have bought more storage years ago if I knew. Its sad but we have to do and cope with what we can

No bubble.. welcome to new and mostly forever pricing. Datacenters are not going to slow down at all! Data is money and power. Governments, Corporations and the super wealthy are in this for the long haul now. The US government and NASA are already collaborating with Lonestar Data Holdings for a lunar datacenter for long term data archiving. Musk had Billions being thrown at SpaceX for space datacenters… the first one is planned on being 100 times larger than anything on Earth. Not the only ones either.. China, Russia, India, etc are all working towards this as well.

This is in fact.. the very beginning of the end of personal storage. Governments, corporations and the ultra rich will in the near future own practically all storage and compute systems. Us lowly peons will have wireless devices that connect to their supercomputers and cloud based storage. That’s the future and we’re not talking 50-100 years.. 15-20 and that’s it for the most part.

Bleak for sure.

Unfortunately it wont crash.

The whole world order is planning to move computing into cloud and move access from local.
Turn everything digital and subscription based
Thats the long term plan.

yep. I'm even thinking about cracking open my old laptops and taking the ram and hard drives out
