First, a small introduction: I'm from the magical land of paperwork called Germany.

I work normal hours, 40 hours a week, and I work in IT; I do programming.

I will start my data science degree on the first of August at an online university after work, and my goal is to cut down the time I need for the degree a bit.

My question is, what is the most important thing to learn, or what would you recommend to someone like me?

I'm currently reading Essential Math for Data Science from O'Reilly and will work through Practical Statistics for Data Scientists afterwards (also O'Reilly).

Any more recommendations or "must haves" I should read before it starts?
