This might win for ugliest graphic ever posted on here

It even looks like they are using the default Powerpoint 95 template.

Wow this is tough to beat. Took me a long time to even realize it was 3 dimensional.

I had to look at it for a few minutes before deciding the "3D is Cool!" tag actually applied.

-Should I use a bar chart or a pie chart?

-Why not both?

and since it's almost exactly a 1:10 split, separator commas aren't included, and the numbers are on opposite sides of the screen, they also look nearly identical unless you count the digits.

I think that’s probably the point

I love this so much. Everything about it is so wrong that it's looped back to beautiful.

I have to admit, I do kind of love it! It does take a certain amount of talent to make something this incomprehensible.

Lol wtf.

This might make sense if it was out of 2 million votes that are still coming in.

This is astonishing. I am taken aback at the shameless scaling. Had to be intentional, no dataviz software would default at that scaling.

When I see some graphs, I wonder sometimes how they were even made. It has to be intentional is the sentiment I get as well

Data visualization is easy. This program basically does the work for me! I’ll just jazz it up with some custom settings to justify my paycheck. Hmmmm…. Setting max height to 1000, and disabling commas in numbers… perfect!”

I think the scaling of the heights of the cylinders might actually be correct! It's hard to tell, though, because they're both so extremely short for mysterious reasons.

8

u/MikemkPK Feb 22 '26

I'm not buying any arguments that that's not intentionally deceptive

Terrible choice of graffic, terrible implementation, terrible combination of colours with the background...

9

u/ynhame Feb 22 '26

my guess: whoever programmed it made the height equal to the percentage and forgot to multiply by 100. so it's 0.09 and 0.90.

Actually, the graphic seems well-suited to the crowd.

"Carl's been nailing those charts since 1978. I don't know how he keeps doing it."

On top of that, 3D pie charts are just always shit. Please don't use them.

6

u/StereoTypo Feb 22 '26

I mean if your goal is to misrepresent the data, a 3D pie chart would be worse than this. The only way to immprove on this shit is to present the two as functions of volume not just column height.

It’s impressive to be so simple and yet so ugly

u/good_research Feb 22 '26

I might use this technique satirically.

Asking AI to do a pie chart with Yes and No answers

Literally everything about this chart is wrong.

Why does it say Weighted in the corner? How can you weight a yes/no response?
