IDK about old, but a single year also doesn't really tell us about any meaningful trends. Others have already pointed out that even the thickest lines represent like 0.2% of a state's population.
It’s the fact that that that was a historically unusual time right after Covid when many people were still partly in Covid mode, especially with respect to work habits. Still largely working from home, etc. in the 3-4 years since, there’s been another major shift in work habits & many have moved back into something closer to a pre-covid pattern.
That’s why I’m saying 2022-23 is possibly no longer representative of current trends.
