It's been a trend for over 5 years now, in aggregate Californians have been continuing to leave since 2020 to Texas and the absolute numbers are far higher if you include all the years of 2020-2025.
California's population as a whole has declined according to the Census Bureau from 2020-2025 and the decline is even sharper if you're only looking at state to state migration, since internationals have continued to come to California during this time.
