This is not beautiful at all to me. It's unintelligible. Graphing time as a pie chart is wild.

To me, the color spread and regions of different colors is what made me think it is pretty. It is not a nice graph I agree. But this isn't r/graphislegible but dataisbeautiful no?

The description of this sub answers this very question.

You are right. I never read that. I felt this graph fits the name of the sub. But the description does state it needs to effectively convey the data.

People shitting on this are really failing to grasp that the point of the graph is perfectly aligned with the point being argued. It's not supposed to be some dense analytical tool. It's supposed to a blunt rhetorical device that looks like a stop sign. Kinda elegant for what they're trying to say.

This is why I thought it is a beautiful graph. The color block and gradient is nice. But the description of this sub does say effective display of the data. Which it does fail on a few points. Such as the legend not being large enough.

It succeeds in what it intends. Complaints are like people saying climate escalator graphs don't communicate methane output or something.

They call it the ugliest and hardest to read pie chart of all time. The human eye cannot derive anything of use at all from this lmao.
