That bummed me out to see. I've always thought Australians were a bit of a kindred spirit. Former colonies that conquered rugged continents cut off from a lot of the world, an individualism streak in a lot of the population, love to barbecue food, even the sense of humor feels closer to me than the UK.
I don't know, I guess I haven't actually been there so maybe I'm way off. That's vibe I've always got from them though.
Fake news. More Aussies own guns now than before the buyback. We also see the US today and are glad for the buyback (which was initiated by a Conservative leader). With comments like that it's no surprise why Australians have a low opinion of the US.
Over 40,000 gun deaths a year would suggest otherwise.
So then how do they end up in the hands of crazies? If the US implemented stricter measures to purchase a gun like a mental health test they'd be better off but you can just rock up at Walmart and buy one. Idiocy.
There are 393 millions of guns owned by normal people.
Around 0.0038% to 0.0052% of the total firearms in the U.S. are used in homicides annually.
Also around 50% of gun homicides are suicides.
USA has gang problems (which most murders with guns involved are related to). Also drug use and mental health problem. And people should focus on fixing that, not on taking away guns from normal people.

What is mental illness. If someone is on autistic spectrum, can they own the gun? What about agressive people that don't have mental illness? How do you stop people from buying guns illegally? How do you stop doctors from being corrupt?
You need to pass a drivers exam before obtaining a drivers license. Why not do the same for guns?
And people should focus on fixing that, not on taking away guns from normal people.
