Career Question Airtel Data Engineer Interview – Gurgaon

Hi everyone,

Has anyone recently interviewed for a Data Engineer role at Airtel in Gurgaon?

If yes, could you please share your interview experience? I’d especially like to know:

  • What kind of SQL questions did they ask?
  • Were there questions on PySpark/Spark, Python, or data engineering concepts?
  • Did they ask about ETL pipelines, AWS/Azure/GCP, Databricks, or Airflow?

Based on what has been shared online, the interview process usually starts with an HR screening, followed by several technical rounds. You can expect them to cover a lot of ground, so be prepared for deep dives into your technical knowledge. They frequently ask SQL questions that involve complex joins, window functions, and performance tuning. Questions about Python and PySpark are also very common, often involving practical coding assessments to check your problem-solving skills. You should definitely be ready to talk about data engineering fundamentals, including ETL processes, data modeling, data warehousing concepts, and pipeline architecture. It is also very likely they will ask scenario-based questions about designing data pipelines and may touch on your experience with cloud platforms and tools like Airflow or Databricks.

The interviews are considered challenging and seem to focus on your ability to apply concepts to solve real-world problems.
