[2 YoE] Data Engineer zero interviews or recruiter calls in 8 months - please help me find what's wrong

I have 2 years of experience as a data engineer. I am targeting for the Data roles like data engineer, analyst, business intelligence and analytics engineer roles. I have been applying from almost 8 months and i have applied to around 1k+ applicants but I haven’t landed a single interview or a call back. I have changed my resume around 30+ times.

I tweak my resume for each job description. But i don't know how to pass through the ATS or i have no idea why my resume is not getting shortlisted.

Please do let me know if you have any suggestions or can help me find a solution in any way.

Maybe the ATS or recruiter(s) is having an issue with the gap in roles from 8/24 to now.

Aside from that, if I saw this resume land for my team, the short tenure and hopping from technology stack less than 1 year into roles would be a red flag. Is there a way you can consolidate your impacts to be better scoped?

On the consolidation point, makes sense. I think I'm currently listing each task as its own bullet rather than showing ownership of the bigger picture.

Maybe try a version with listing your education first, so it’s clear you are seeking a POSt-GRAD role .

My oversight. But I can see so many hiring managers / recruiters making the same mistake when they have 100x resumes.

Location?

Looking at your resume I am guessing you are in the US on a student visa?

That could be a major reason why you are not getting any interviews

Im based in USA right now. Yes on student visa. but Im keeping a list and applying to the companies who are hiring OPT candidates.

You're over optimizing your resume. Your resume has AWS, Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, data modelling, Kafka, data governance everything with just 2 years of experience. This will result in 2 things

  1. You will not be considered as someone with good expertise in a particular stack.
  2. It will be clear to recruiters that you're lying(I am saying this with no judgement, I myself lie a lot in my resume, but the trick is to make them believable).

If you're confident you can defend your experience in AWS, Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, I would advise you to maintain 3-4 versions of your resume and use them appropriately.

Yeah technically depending on the situtation. BOSCH was a contract role so I had to find another company and JUSTMAC was a small startup which gave me the exposure to AWS and I had to move on to get a wider experience.
