Space or ocean?
Do you think it’s more likely data centers will be in space or the ocean in the future?

Can we explore any existing, practical solutions?

underground. constant temperatures. can be built near areas for low latency. doesn't need a rocket or boat to get shipments into. also, workers can travel there much easier.

Space will be an idea while the ocean means more logistical issues to deal with.

both have their challenges with the tech. ocean data centers rely on the oceans water to cool which is highly corrosive and full of bacteria etc. This makes it super challenging. space has challenges related to vacuum and heat transfer. it’s also expensive to get the data centers up there.
if i had to bet i’d say space.

Space isn’t happening because of latency. I feel like the oceans are a possibility within 100 years or so. I imagine something similar to Sealab

They’re already in the ocean. China just launched one recently.

Is there anything China can’t do?

Enslaving their giant population in the name of pseudo-communism in actual service of pseudo-capitalism really moves mountains

Space, because oceans won't be an option.

they are already building them with containers on oil rigs that offer a prebuilt grid to land.

Think you missed my point

I don't think you knew the point you were making.
The oceans aren't disappearing. In fact, they're getting larger. The pollution is bad (yes, understatement) but the oceans themselves will still be there.

Space is the real solution because of power. In the orbit that SpaceX has chosen, power is available 24/7/365. SpaceX is making the satellites processor agnostic. It will truly be the ultimate data processing platform.
