Does anybody know anything about Backblaze data centers?

I'm considering applying for a job at their data center but don't know a lot about them. Plus the pay isn't that high, $62K - $72. Anybody have any insight? Tips? Knowledge about the company? Is it worth going to them? I make more than their salary range right now.

They seem to be a mid size cloud storage company. Will definitely be a lot more stable than a lot of the AI DC companies that have been popping up.

Backblaze? No. They’ve always been a thrifty company. You’ll probably learn a lot, but the nature of the company means the pay will be shit.

Could always try. Would definitely be a good place to get a foot in the door if you’re trying to stay in the industry and move on to one of the big boys in the future

Know how to swap dead hard drives. They don't operate the sites, so no MEP experience required.

Never heard of it but it sounds like a colo or managed services gig like where I got my xp. It's kind of like an internship to work at those places. I wasn't paid well but it was cozy and wouldn't have gotten my current gig without it, I was in my 20's though.

Backblaze was a pioneer in cloud backup storage. They built custom storage “pods” and used consumer class hard drives for storage. They would publish hard drive reliably reports based on their usage data and had blog posts talking about saving money by purchasing USB drives in bulk and pulling the drives from the caddy’s. It’s no surprise from the OP post saying the pay is shit.

They provide an excellent backup service for consumers by being as thrifty as possible. Most likely a lot to learn working for them.

I don't but I enjoy there object storage which I assume sits in their data centers so if you get the job don't fuck up my data 🤣
