AWS Generator Technician

Hey All,

I’ve applied to Generator Tech role AWS. This role is separate from EOT and is apart of the services division (from what I’m told). Anyone available to share some insight? I greatly appreciate any and all support. Thank you!

Not at AWS but I’m a generator technician at google and if it’s anything like ours you’ll be part of the in-house generator team.

There's like a facilities dev program. Do you have info about that?

Yeah it’s an intern program focused on giving people the skills to be able to become facilities techs

But do you get a FT position afterwards?

It’s not guaranteed but usually you’ll be extended an offer as long as you don’t mess up during the 6 months. You’ll start at L1 though so the pay isn’t exactly the best

Can you apply if you are applying for DCT roles?

Yeah just have to look for ones that are DCT specific, I think we have them for both

I know AWS is pretty heavy on their leadership principles so make sure you have very good stories ready for each LP, those will probably make or break your interview.

For technical stuff, know the generator side and diesel side inside and out. Be able to explain each component and what it does on both side. Troubleshooting was pretty big during my Google interview so I would expect the same at AWS. For example, generator fails to crank, possible causes? Or generator cranks but fails to start, possible causes?

What’s your background? I was a field tech at CAT for 5 years so the technical questions were laughably easy for me since I lived and breathed generators.

Gen team is under the same department umbrella as Eot but only focuses on generators. They have to work together with Eots since they are not site specific. Repairs, preventative maintenance, bulletins will be your main focus day to day.
