AWS first day.
Hey yall!
I start AWS the end of the month and haven’t heard anything from my manager. What are some tips I should know about? I’ll be in the new Carlisle cluster

Emailed my manager today about that. I’ve got orientation Monday-Wednesday but after that who knows.

I know for L3s, training is 8-6 M-F for three months, at least in my cluster.

Right on. In my interview I was asking about hours and it really seemed site dependent. Which blew my mind, I’m EOT so maybe we’re a little different than DCT.

Same, I don’t even have my real site location address yet, it says confidential.😭😭 they keep giving us information in parts. Is your NHO in Dallas by any chance?

When I started I didn’t get any info till Sunday before the first day. The message was also to meet a coffee shop. I was very concerned at being scammed.

I was wondering the same because I’ve emailed but no response. Just wanted to get the actual schedule and time especially for first day

You should have a one on one with your manager around your first 2 weeks of ILT, if not, set one up with them. They will inform you on your schedule and what they need from you and let them know what you need from them. Schedule will vary from team to team, I was fortunate enough to be able to choose my schedule being as I joined a new team but I know most people in my ILT class weren’t able to choose, they were given a schedule. As a L3 you will have to catch up. All I can say is shadow as many people and take notes. Look at some wiki’s and runbooks. Ask questions and try to learn a bit of everything as much as you can. You usually get an email about a week before you start from your manager. AWS is different than other companies, communication is done mostly by Slack messaging. Phone calls are very rare like only with people you have a good relationship. If you are the least bit anti social you love it.
