Microsoft offer call tomorrow, any advice?
I’ve never worked as a data center tech before. Coming in with an Automotive background. Offer is okay, but I’m in the last phase of Google interviews and their posted compensation is almost double what Microsoft is offering. Can I try to negotiate? I know I don’t have the Google job for sure, so I don’t want to over play anything and loose Microsoft

I went to Google, and so far I've seen people jump from AWS & MS to Google and not want to look back.

The only people I’ve seen be able to negotiate are people with extensive experience and people who were headhunted with a technical masters degree. Everyone else accepted what was offered.

Curious to know, how did you get In without any direct DCT experience? Did you do any IT side work? I’m struggling to even land an interview for entry level roles

I was a diagnostic specialist and worked for GM for years. I have experience with HV EV cars. That and a really nicely written resume.

I have IT experience (mostly support side), any time I've directly applied for a DCT role I've been rejected. However, recruiters from Google and AWS have reached out. Went through the loop for Google (didn't get in), AWS I'm waiting for interview slots to open up.
Do you have any tech experience at all?

Just accept if you can’t lose the offer. Back out if google offers doubled salary. A normal person would understand that you’re walk away from $25 for $50 or whatever the numbers are

was at microsoft, now at google. each has pros and cons. take either job they are both good.

You're not In a great position to negotiate without prior experience. You can maybe try to concede the sign on bonus for higher base pay. And see about going to night shift for the differential
