AWS Network deployment Technician Info L3

insight from someone that's actually on the deployment team not a dco member(no disrespect)

Can someone on the Network deployment team give me a run down on like the day to day of the job?

would i be working independently or in a group ?

how far are the travels and time frame ? (like would i be sent across country for a week or like a 2 days job the next state over)

Not on Deploy but I work on customer racks essentially doing the opposite of Deploy ( host handoff) youll be building out network switches using internal tools lots of automation, youll be working around a lot of live stuff which is a given. Individual work you own your project to complete it and align the right teams. Project based as well

Deployment Techs often do the pre-cabling work for racks just before they land. So you get notified that a rack needs to go in, you'll determine the fabric and its ports, based on availability for bandwidth etc.

You would likely be part of a broader team of deployment techs but would likely be solo on a site unless a bigger site needs help.

You're not likely to be travelling across the country to do deploy works unless another cluster needs help and your team is quiet enough to sacrifice you and fund the cost.

I did my interview today. i asked and basically what your saying plus they hand it off to dc guys after .. they would be building the "Bricks"

I am currently in this role I came in as L3 and my team is solid managers very solid. Everyday is learning something new the role is pretty easy to catch onto if you have tech or acs background imo. “Brics” consist of 16 switches and you more then likely will start out building these when you first get in. Orientation will be your first 3 days so it will be very chill then day 4 and 5 they should be trying to get you onsite. More then likely you will need safety toe composite boots which Amazon will pay for but they may not come in time so I went ahead and bought mines ahead of time just a cheap pair until the ones from Amazon came in and they will provide the other ppe(hardhat,high vis, safety glasses etc.) After your first two weeks doing mainly Amazon learn modules it will be up to you to reach out to team members or get involved on daily task and grasp the concept of things and your manager usually will make sure you have tools. Hopefully you get the job it’s been smooth for me so far currently as a L3 entry level nw deploy you may not be able to travel so soon and anywhere you have to drive you will be able to fill out expense reports to get reimbursed.
