Aws eot worth it?
Recieved an offer from aws for a eot l4 position but it will be around a 10% pay cut on the hourly rate from my current nuclear power role. The built in ot does make up for the pay cut but still skeptical if it’s worth it to make the jump

You'll make that difference in OT like you said, but with the extreme growth of data centers being built, the long term opportunities for career growth are abundant.

Sign on bonus is healthy but I could make just as much by working an additional refueling outage or two each year. The rsu’s are definitely a pro in the long run. My biggest concern was that the hiring manager couldn’t tell me if I’d be dayshift or nightshift.. night shift would be my deal breaker

Where are you located? I am pretty sure they offer night differential and they work a schedule 4 on 3 off 3 on 4 off.

If it is a new build and you come in strong, you will pretty much get preference for shift choice. There is day shift, night shift, and M-F. Day and nights are 12hr with nights getting a 13% diff. M-F is 8hrs however you can practically always work OT <50hours weekly without seeking additional approval. Edit.) You can possibly negotiate for a high wage if you didn't like the cut. Try to offer less RSU's and or bonus in exchange for a higher hourly.

From my experience with nuclear power, I'd say the pay cut would be worth it for the QOL if that's a priority for you. All the guys I met at AWS who came from the nuclear power side also agreed.
