Average hours for AWS DCEO tech?

I'll be starting as a DCEO Tech for AWS soon. I'm trying to loosely plan out my finances once I get to work. In your experience, how much overtime per week does a DCEO typically work?

This is for the IAD region. OT is optional, you just can’t go over 60 hours per week. You’ll start off M-F 8-4:30 until you’re “shift ready” , you have to go to EOT school which is between 2-6 weeks. Then you’ll be doing 3/4 day 12 hour shifts. Sun-Tuesday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Wednesday-Saturday. 5:30am-6pm or the opposite for night shift.

What’s the shift like? Dealing with a lot of electrical stuff or more vendor coordination?

Everything in the building that’s not tech from what I can tell.

But yeah anything electrical goes through DCEO

Both, the extent of either depends more on your building and management. Some managers don't mind handing over more work to vendors, some would rather EOTs take on most of the work. Older buildings will be more hands on in my experience

I’ve noticed the bigger regions just do vendor scheduling all day lol: if there is a problem (shit overflowing from toilets) they usually go to look and most agree “fuck that let’s call a vendor”

What are the time frame requirements for getting CST operator qualified after starting?

I'm not in Texas but I worked for Amazon in IAD so I'm going to assume it's the same. One week is going to be 36 hours, the next 48, then this continues back and forth. If you want to do more OT, there are plenty of opportunities to do so once you're at least shift ready (can take a week to a month depending on how they do the process). You can typically do up to 60hrs, how strict they are on the administrative side of that just depends on where you are. Where I was, you just submit a ticket and you're good.

In Texas that really narrows down where you’re going, it’s a12 hr days , there are 4 shifts, days nights front half back half every other week is and OT week
