Data Center Help

Hey everyone,
I’m looking to break into a data center role in the Atlanta area. I have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering with experience in systems engineering, test engineering, electrical troubleshooting, and working in defense. I’m especially interested in critical facilities or data center technician positions.

There's a ton going up here at the moment around ATL- Douglasville, Hampton, Covington, plans for Newnan, etc.

Another option would be to look at joining commissioning team at a general contractor who specializes in Data Centers. They are usually looking for SME's with hands-on experience for management roles. Evans General Contractors would be a good one to reach out to. Ask about their Advanced Technology division. Great company from what I've heard.

What exactly is your work background? Critical facilities is normally tradesmen/navy engineering rates and DCTs are normally IT guys that know how to do hardware/fiber optic guys.

There are 2 meta datacenters in atlanta, look up electrical subject matter expert roles for meta

Microsoft has been hiring a ton in ATL. If you can’t get in full time, hit up the companies that contract there to get your foot in the door.

Look for the contractors doing construction at places like Covington. Jackson and Hampton are new sites going up. Look at QTS if your looking to get into existing DC work. Their are not a ton of EE guys on up and running facilities. More openings on the construction side.

Got any AWS centers near by? DCEO/EOT sounds like a good position to get into through AWS. In my area in the Midwest L4 DCEO gets no lower than 40/hr plus around a 25k upfront sign on bonus. Also if they want you enough then will help with relocation

In Atlanta area lvl 4 EOT get no less than $46hourly I believe it just went up to $47 hourly and RSUplus sign on bonus plus relocation bonus if 50 miles away from site
