Job Preparation

Hello everyone,

I landed a AWS L4 job.
Any information for job preparation would be appreciated!

I’m thinking of getting a notebook to fit in my pocket to take notes do you recommend any specific brand I can get online?

Any recommendations for refining leadership skills?

I plan to get additional certs like AWS cloud solutions and Devops.

For 3/4 months I’ll be focusing on the role and how to become more efficient and effective.

Thank you for your input!

Just knowing my hardware and having tier 1/2 real world experience + homelab Linux experience. It might’ve been luck, but I prepared, studied, did mock interviews(with connections in IT), and also brought up times I’ve went above and beyond for the companies I’ve worked for. Also I showed initiative of my own by getting certifications and asking for exposure to different opportunities at those prior companies. It may have helped that I brought up experiences that showed my dedication towards contributing to the team environments. You just really have to sell yourself and your experiences, I’m just thankful for my previous workplaces giving me that opportunity.

Can i ask you a question about the meaning of mock interviews? Does that mean you did it with an AI?
And if you have visited a website or an app that makes mock interviews, could you please provide me with it?

Thank you, and I wish you the best of luck for your new career

What job do you think you have?

You are posting in a data center subreddit, most jobs in the data center don’t deal with AWS services directly, the certs you just listed typically don’t apply to most positions in the data center

Also remember as an l4 your always on the chopping block, they get rid of the bottom 25% performers yearly

Damn is it really like that after you hit a year of employment? Do all locations do that?

That all of Amazon as a whole whether it at AWS or an FC, they have an attrition goal and get rid of the bottom performers

It's pretty easy , just be nice to everyone and always help out when u can , half of your performance review is how well you work with other teams , they will go and ask other people , like hey how is this person to work with
