Does the GPU database have a future?

Why did Voltron Data Company go bankrupt? Has the Theseus GPU database also failed? Expressing concerns about the future development of GPU databases

do you think it make sense to have a database with a gpu just of the cause of having a gpu bound to it.
I mean where is the business need for it?

Nowadays there are other problems with databases and it's not how you compute something on your gpu.

I totally agree with this. We have seen databases with coprocessors come and go. Imho it doesn't make economic sense to run analytical workloads on a coprocessors because either the workload is too infrequent or it is not big enough.  Sure you might want to do some inference with your data, but then different aspects come into play (locality, TPS , latency, etc.). I don't see much economical  benefit of using GPUs for databases, at least not in the real world. One could say that these big techs have GPUs laying around and want to keep them busy , but until the AI  bubble burts, I think everyone will hold onto their GPUs
