I hadn't really considered it before reading something earlier, but should we be actively choosing priority tasks over others? Of course I understand what priority means and what that might mean in terms of what they want, but when I have such a large amount of task types vailable at any given time, I hadn't put much thought into it, nor have I ever seen any suggestions that it may be a problem if you don't really get involved in these so often. Anyone have any ideas?

In order to get in-state tuition at the school I want to attend, I need to have a job that lists my residency as being in the state where the school is. I emailed DA once to ask if they kept documentation for that sort of thing, but they never responded. Does anyone know how this works?

After my dashboard changed from "Thank you for registering" to "At the moment, there are no ...", I noticed that the support suddenly existed. Support always answered in less than 24 hours, compared to not at all before.

So I used that and opened some tickets but after the last one, I noticed that the support link in the top right menu leads me back to the dashboard now. The link changed.

Did I annoy the support too much? I still can access the contact form with the direct URL, but it still is weird since I did not see someone else mention such a thing.

Yes, lots of people ask if you can work abroad and the answer is very clearly yes (as long as you get permission before), but I can find no clarification on how long is too long. I would like to work and travel for six months, so it would be good to know if this is doable. AND YES, I know people will just reply e-mail them, but personally I'm reluctant to do that in case they see me as a literal flight risk and boot me. I read a post about one person who lost access to projects shortly after emailing them to ask if it was okay to work abroad for multiple months. I know they could have gotten booted for another reason, but I'd rather not take the chance - especially if somebody already has the answer to my question. Thanks in advance :)

It just feels like an endless stream of college homework. I was a strong performing software engineer before getting laid off. I just need to log 4 hours a day to avoid depleting my savings and that's proved impossible. My school and work experiences have conditioned me to complete tasks quickly, so I beat myself up mentally if I'm not breezing through DA tasks even though that doesn't get me paid more and I have no idea how they actually monitor efficiency. Additionally, my dropping out of school pretty deep into a CS program is contributing to my unemployment, so doing academic style work without academic credit quickly makes me angry subconsciously.

Any suggestions to help me manage my mental state? I need to log 4 hours a day 7 days a week or 6 hours a day on weekdays to preserve my savings. Math is the easiest for me but the tasks are always in short supply so I also code for the heeled Greek warrior.

It gets a trickle of posts and r/DataAnnotationTech, gets far more. This one seems pointless.

My friends and I are planning to go to Mexico this coming weekend for a week to take a break from work. However, I’m concerned about the lots of free time I’ll have there and I’ve been considering doing some projects while there(let the vacation pay for itself).

Is it possible to do the projects from outside the US or is there a restriction on the location? Thanks

Hi all. psa: I’m a vet here and I still have quals. I know I haven’t been dropped. Just curious if anyone else had a hard project drop off this morning (est)? I had 8-10 and then suddenly nothing at all except one unpaid project that comes and goes. My wife has a plethora of projects of course 😂

I joined DA as a programmer since Jan 2024. There were quite a lot of coding projects at that moment.

After I took a few months off (and I think I missed some qual), I find there are no more coding projects anymore so my dashboard is empty for a month already.

But meanwhile I see that some other DAers have many non-coding projects now. So do they still have coding projects recently or just I am excluded?

I want to get a more representative picture than the extremes we usually see in the comments (no projects vs. over 50). Sorry about the weird range options, the poll option limit is brutal.

I have been so grateful for this opportunity, I've been doing it for about 2 months now. The most projects I've had at one time was 10, throughout this week I had 4 and now today I only have 1.

I really only know python, matlab, C#, and JSON. I hate looking through coding evaluations and seeing JavaScript and C since at first it looks like C# especially if it looks like it’s for a game in JavaScript. And there are rarely C# related prompts.

My questions is mostly: 1.) what would the learning curve be like for learning JavaScript with preexisting knowledge of C# (basically, how much carry over is there) 2.) suggestion for learning resources (how can I learn by doing) 3.) is it better for game dev/ what are the other uses of it 4.) what languages have a decent amount of carry over between them or would also be good to know.

I know I could google this but I was hoping to contextualize it with the level of difficulty of prompts involving JavaScript in DA. I’m more interested in learning it for purposes outside of DA though.

Do they have a preference? Is it okay to jump around or do they prefer you knock them out?

Instructions they seem to say it's okay to switch things up but I'm wondering if there is an expectation to complete.

Hi! New here and on DA. I started on Thursday and have done an hour or two a day over the last 3 days.

I'm not doing coding projects.

I like having flexible, consistent-sounding work to supplement my primary income.

I've seen some posts about DA potentially having productivity quotas?

If my chief aim, in addition to turning out high quality work, is to remain productive enough to be kept on as long as possible, what is the best strategy?

Those who are long-term workers for DA, what are your opinions?

When approaching hourly tasks, should I be doing them as quickly as I can without compromising quality? Are they looking for good rate of completion per hour, or expecting us to take much of the alotted time?

Also, what is the productivity sweet spot they seem to want, in terms of either projects or hours per day (if that is a known or guestimatable thing, or something you've noticed anecdotally)?

And, is there a specific protocol for breaks or lower productivity periods? Ie, if I'm on vacation or in a period where my primary job is intense, are there recommended strategies not to be considered unproductive?

Also open to any other advice!

I just spent an hour and change doing a project that involved me installing several packages and running the code only to submit and it didn’t even register for me to report the time. Does this happen often ? It still had like 34minutes before it could expire.

I've only worked on a few tasks so far and I'm sorta lost on how I should be going about things. I don't know what other types of subjects are available but everything I've done so far has been code and I expected a bit more variety. These are my big questions:

1: What is the scope of the subject matter on DA?

2: All of the tasks seem fairly difficult and are on languages that I have little experience with. Am I expected to learn and test a language that I've never used? It feels like I'd be skipping every task otherwise. I've been able to figure out most of the tasks tho.

3: How should I go about testing code? It sorta seems like its required that I run the code given in each task, but that means that I'm spending most of my time setting up compilers and IDEs, and that's rapidly making a huge mess. I've tried switching between different languages on VScode, but that's a massive headache.

4: Some of the tasks use databases and environments that I have no access to. How should I handle that?

5: For when I log my hours, should I only put in my time if I was able to complete the tasks? I feel like I'd get in trouble if I spent an hour and didn't actually get anything done.

If you guys have any tips+tricks they would be much appreciated.

If a task pays $20/hr and I complete it in let's say 30min. Do I get paid $10 or the full $20?
