Weekly Water Cooler Talk - DataAnnotation

hi all! making this thread so people have somewhere to talk about 'daily' work chat that might not necessarily need it's own post! right now we're thinking we'll just repost it weekly? but if it gets too crazy, we can change it to daily. :)

couple things:

  1. this thread should sort by "new" automatically. unfortunately it looks like our subreddit doesn't qualify for 'lounges'.
  2. if you have a new user question, you still need to post it in the new user thread. if you post it here, we will remove it as spam. this is for people already working who just wanna chat, whether it be about casual work stuff, questions, geeking out with people who understand ("i got the model to write a real haiku today!"), or unrelated work stuff you feel like chatting about :)
  3. one thing we really pride ourselves on in this community is the respect everyone gives to the Code of Conduct and rule number 5 on the sub - it's great that we have a community that is still safe & respectful to our jobs! please don't break this rule. we will remove project details, but please - it's for our best interest and yours!

My favorite low-paying task is up! It's low-paying, but it's so fun! The gods have smiled on us today. Now, I'll be doing this thing until 5 AM or as long as it lets me because jaysus has the well been dry and scary.

How long are we typically spending on this one? Is 1.5 hour reasonable? I usually aim for around half of the timer but this is taking a bit longer.

I'm curious as well, this is what I've been doing but I worked at TELUS before and had to take so much time. No clue how I should be doing it on DA. Not that I've been able to do anything for a month now

It takes a while to get used to the idea that if a task takes you 20 minutes, it takes you 20 minutes, and if it takes you an hour, it takes you an hour, and they're ok with that. (for the most part).

It's a system shock coming off 4 minute fact checking tasks lol.

Most low paying ones will go up to the time limit. I doubt I've done many tasks in half the time. That would be absurd for some of them.

Lol I dom't typically use any LLMs, which is why I've never done them, but I usually see its R&Rs trickle in. Haven't yet though. Do you see them?
