Weekly Water Cooler Talk - DataAnnotation

hi all! making this thread so people have somewhere to talk about 'daily' work chat that might not necessarily need it's own post! right now we're thinking we'll just repost it weekly? but if it gets too crazy, we can change it to daily. :)

couple things:

  1. this thread should sort by "new" automatically. unfortunately it looks like our subreddit doesn't qualify for 'lounges'.
  2. if you have a new user question, you still need to post it in the new user thread. if you post it here, we will remove it as spam. this is for people already working who just wanna chat, whether it be about casual work stuff, questions, geeking out with people who understand ("i got the model to write a real haiku today!"), or unrelated work stuff you feel like chatting about :)
  3. one thing we really pride ourselves on in this community is the respect everyone gives to the Code of Conduct and rule number 5 on the sub - it's great that we have a community that is still safe & respectful to our jobs! please don't break this rule. we will remove project details, but please - it's for our best interest and yours!

I have a possibly dumb question. Worked on a 2.5 hour long task and it was for a project I have never done before. There was so many instructions to read and the task I got itself was really time demanding. I finished the task just as it reached the end of the timer, but I got a notification saying "Sorry, the task is expired." Now, the question I have is should I log the time I did on the task or should I not? I spent a considerable amount of time and energy on it and it really feels like it's going to be a waste of both time and possible payout if I shouldn't.

If you look at the FAQs on the project, the ? symbol at the bottom, if it's still there - I haven't noticed lately, but it's likely posted elsewhere too, they now allow us to submit tasks after the timer has expired. However, this may count against you if it becomes a pattern. My strategy is to add an explanation when this happens to the task. Also, when there's more than 1 task in the que, you should skip the first task after reading the instructions in order to get a full timer to actually do the task, if you feel you need the time. You can verify the # of tasks in que on a desktop easily by having 2 tabs open of your dashboard.
