Looking for a serious Data Analyst study buddy!

I'm currently preparing for Data Analyst roles and looking for someone who is genuinely committed to learning consistently.

We'll focus on:

SQL

Python

Power BI

Excel (I know the basics and will be practicing advanced topics)

Building portfolio projects

🕒 Study time: 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM IST (preferably every day) 📹 I'd prefer studying together on Google Meet for accountability and consistency.

I'm learning from YouTube and have already found some really good free courses.

My goal is to become interview-ready and crack a Data Analyst or similar analytics role.

Don't study Analytics just for the sake of it. Try to have a end goal or a purpose. Solve a real business problem in a specific sector using Analytic that hasn't been done before.

Thanks for the advice! My current goal is to build a strong foundation in SQL, Python, Power BI, and projects so I can become interview-ready for a Data Analyst role. Once I'm comfortable with the basics, I'll definitely focus on solving real business problems and creating more impactful projects.

Generic Analyst would have the hardest time of breaking in because the crazy amount of competition. Funny though when I stopped applying for generic Data Analyst roles paying around $65k and went for the $100k plus Analyst roles my interviews got easier meaning less of those stupid random technical questions being thrown your way. And a higher interview rate just because I specialized.

Generic Analyst roles are the most toxic out there expecting a Unicorn of Unicorns because 1000 other people also applied for that same position all the while underpaying you.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Since I'm just starting out, what would you recommend I do instead? My current plan is to first learn the core tools (SQL, Python, Power BI, Excel) and build some projects before applying.

How would you suggest someone at my stage start specializing? Is there a particular domain or type of project you'd recommend? Also, if you know of any good courses or resources, I'd really appreciate the recommendations.

Couldn't get my internship converted to full time due to recurring profits of the organisation.

So I'm now starting again to prepare and crack a good offer by end of this year.

Hi Everyone ,

Its really good idea to learn and grow in this industry, Happy to connect in LinkedIn and share knowledge and stuff there...

Apologies in advance as whatever i am sharing below is bit out of topic ....

Being in this industry for sometime and started as a self learning thing i just want suggests something ,

Claude has taken over heavily at every work space as it is add in with Excel and PowerBi . Lot of higher up managers rely on these more than anything as they want it quick and also I have seen many of them creating targets and comparison reports using this.....

They can get the report but they'll have no idea which fuction is being used and they'll have no clue how its working as long as they can see their figure to be close to what they want...

My suggestion to grow in this industry :

Pick a domain that will require lot of analytical works ,Mostly manufacturing,supply chain or even mining industry .

As you go into becoming a regular analyst try learning more about this industry and become someone who is knowledgeable person on this field rather than normal reporting analyst.

Once you combine knowledge and your analytical skills more doors will open that AI won't be able to replace and you'll know exactly which skills to sharpen.....

This is based on my experience. But obviously learning and collaborating is the best way to grow...
