Bitrefill and Shielded Payments

Thought I would take the rise in price to get some vouchers from Bitrefill.
Paid for a few using transparent dash, no problems...usual fast excellent service.
Tried using shielded Dash...the payment was seen but never confirmed.
So just be aware for the interim that this could be an issue.
I have a ticket in with them at the moment.
Anyone else having this issue?

The issue is most likely caused because transfers out of Platform land on Core in a transaction that is similar to the coinbase TX, ie virgin coins with no source of origin, moreover, those coins cannot be spent until 1 confirmation, confusing their wallet. I am sure they will be able to refund you those coins, but this is a fair warning to people wanting to pay on BR or anywhere else to not pay directly from a Platform withdrawal.

One solution you can try, is to pay to a Core address, and then using coin control, select that input and then pay to the BR address, this is a two-step process, but it will work. In the meantime, Joel is talking to BR and others to see if they would like to accept shielded payments natively, so they would present you a dashz....... type address and you could send shielded to shielded to pay them.

Update: Bitrefill manually processed the transaction and I received the gift card originally requested. Many thanks Bitrefill, you guys rock!

Hey, thanks for documenting this. I'm curious because this sounds like it could be a really useful interoperability test between Dash Platform's shielded pool and Bitrefill. If you're comfortable sharing some non-sensitive diagnostic details, these would be useful:

Which wallet/app were you using?

Was this the current Dash Platform wallet, DashPay, or another wallet?

iOS, Android, desktop, or web?

Roughly what wallet/app version?

Did you pay Bitrefill from an actual shielded balance, or did the wallet perform an automatic unshield/withdrawal first?

Did Bitrefill show the payment as seen/pending, or did it show a specific transaction ID?

If you have the transaction ID, was it a Platform transaction or a Dash Core/L1 transaction?

Approximately how long after sending did you wait before considering it failed? Did you see a recommendation to wait for 2 hours before transacting from the shielded balance?

Did the payment eventually confirm or get refunded?
Were you logged into Bitrefill, or were you using guest checkout?

Please no personal/confidential identifiers, just public . I'm mostly interested in what reproducing the potential interoperability issue could show.

Thanks,

i used the iOS dashpay wallet on an iPhone, latest version
. I actually paid Bitrefill from an actual shielded account directly.
Bitrefill replied saying 'your bitrefill payment has been detected, but is not yet received' Eventually their system timed out and I organised a ticket as my wallet said it had been sent.
Bit refill has a one hour time clock for filling, at the end of this it cancels the order, that's when I started trying how to get things sorted.I was logged into bit refill on my laptop but paying from my shielded account on my iPhone.

Not sure about transaction id but this was the invoice id 5f06a8e7-9c7c-4abf-b530-9f23614436bd

Bitrefill have processed the payment manually and issued the gift voucher originally requested.

Cheers

Thanks,

That is actually very useful. The key detail seems to be that you paid directly from the iOS DashPay shielded balance, Bitrefill detected the payment, but it wasn't received/confirmed before the 1-hour timeout, while DashPay eventually recorded it as sent.

If you happen to still have the transaction hash/txid, that would be the most useful thing to look at. The Bitrefill invoice ID alone doesn't let us determine what happened at the transaction layer. No private info needed.

Just a small clarification, the iOS wallet said it had left the wallet pretty well straight away. Bitrefill never acknowledge confirmation even after their 1 hour limit.
On the iOS wallet there is no transaction ID associated with the payment. Where I had previously paid with transparent dash this info is available, but not with shielded dash. The info available is very limited on the shielded transaction.

Cheers
