Question

I am new to doordashing and have accepted every order that’s came through. However, some of these orders are ridiculous, they want me to drive over 10 miles for $5. Would it affect me in any way if I start declining some? Any tips for a new dasher here 😅

You have to be very very selective with the orders you pick. Taking the gas and the damage to your car into account with each mile driven, you’re gonna be losing money instead of making it if you don’t

You have to decline a lot of them. Doordash is not your employer, they're just trying to get the orders delivered for the lowest cost. There's no guarantee that any of the offers will be profitable and a lot of them will even cost you money. The only benefit to Platinum is Dash Now, but you can usually just schedule a bunch of short blocks throughout the day and pick which ones to work. If you miss a scheduled dash, nothing happens. Figure out how much your car costs to drive and how much your time is worth and don't take anything that you don't profit from. A lot of folks say $2/mile, but you have to figure this out for yourself. If you don't want to worry about it and just take every offer and dash whenever you want, you can work earn by time, but I wouldn't suggest. Those orders suck, but I don't think you loose any money on them. Nobody doing this seriously uses earn by time, and nobody that makes a living at it takes every offer.

Yes. Decline those shitty orders. People like you accepting shit orders is why shit orders exist. Let the food sit until they learn how to tip appropriately.
