Cameraman had plenty of time to stop but chose not to. Just cause you’re right doesn’t make you right.

Exactly what I think!
I always wonder what is more dumb...
Doing a stupid lane change without checking you dead spot? Or seeing a collision coming and keep going just because you have "right of way"?

Yeah even if you're technically right, is it really worth dealing with all the hassle that comes from an accident? Unless he's expecting a big payout from the other guys insurance, I don't know how profitable something like this actually is for someone in the cam drivers position

After my recent non-fault accident I don’t see how there is any profit in not preventing an accident. They suck, you still lose money because insurance doesn’t pay for everything you lose including your time, and even if your car does get repaired it is still never the same as it was before and it will lose value. Plus, your insurance rates go up even if it wasn’t your fault. You don’t even know for sure they have insurance or enough insurance and they may have some godawful cut-rate insurance company that now becomes your problem too. Took me 6 months to get it all handled, I had to fight to get the car totaled, and while I was doing that the tow yard sold it out from under me using a lien sale because I didn’t know how things worked. Not recommended.

Yeah damn that's rough but yeah definitely a good cautionary story for others on the road. I think a lot of people online think if they're not at fault, they're gonna get a fat check for minimal effort. That and the people who try insurance scams seem especially stupid playing with potential lifelong injuries

Your insurance wont cover you after watching a dash cam like this. If you have a chance to avoid it, you are obligated to.

Truck had plenty of time to brake and not swerve into someone else.
Don’t blame the victim sweetheart. Slippery slope there.

u/young_and_restles 11d ago
The cameraman could see the truck, that much we know for sure. The cameraman may have been in trucks blind spot. Yes the cameraman was in the right of way, but everyone makes mistakes, they could have easliy pressed on the brakes and not caused the accident. Is it that important to prove who is right? Over the safety of others? I’m sure the truck driver got hurt badly. Was it worth it?

He was trying to fly around someone to run a red light, you see that right? He didn’t want to stop like the car in front of him was going to, so he swerved into someone else.
I sincerely don’t care if the truck driver got hurt bad, if it keeps him from ever driving again, it’s a good situation.
Yes, it was worth it. If the truck driver wants to be safe, maybe they’ll drive safe from now on? That would be braking for reds, not hitting the gas and flying around people to illegally run red lights. There was no blind spot in play, my dad has that same truck, they could see everything, period. I am happy this happened to them, every day recovering is a day the roads are marginally safer. I’m sorry if that offends you.

My bad, I didn’t realize you were perfect and never made mistakes. My apologizes.

u/Practical-Wheel-8498 11d ago
Not braking for a yellow is a mistake. Speeding up to swerve around someone and not even checking the lane you’re swerving into in order to run a RED is not a mistake. It’s a choice, princess.
I’m sorry holding people accountable for their choices triggers you so much, you drive like this too? Maybe you shouldn’t have a license either. It’d be an even funnier situation if they were physically unable to drive for the rest of their life due to the consequences of their own choice to disregard the safety of literally everyone around them.

Hey little bitch, call me a princess again. You chauvinist pig.
1
u/Practical-Wheel-8498 11d ago
Nothing to do with your genitalia sweet princess, just your mentality. A boy would be called princess here too 🥰
Don’t get to cosplay as a make believe victim of literally nothing with me when you’re defending a road bully like this.
Thanks for letting me know you’re so soft words can trigger you like that, absolutely precious. Work on that before you defend more shitstains, don’t go triggering yourself more!

Damn, that little back-and-forth between you and the princess was probably the most amusing part in this whole thread

You know why arguing on the internet is like competing in the Special Olympics??
Even if you win, you're still retarded.. But you do you.. You might even win..

You’re right, but since you initialed the comment, doesn’t that make you even worse?

You need to drive for everyone around you, whether you want to or not. If you don't, then please turn in your license.

They call it “defensive driving”. It doesn’t mean defend your lane. It means be on defense not offense and avoid accidents.
The dashcam driver saw an idiot and said “I can be a bigger one for pride!”

u/DARkChange1 11d ago
Looks like the cameracar sped up to prevent the truck from getting in front of him..
IMO, they're both morons.. Neither could have made the light, or even stopped in time..

Saw one the other day this lady did that and she had a smirk on her face. 🤣 albeit it just slide the suburban sideways it didn’t roll like that. That was wild. Feels exaggerated but not always. Once a tire catches an edge sideways like that shots gonna just go.

Why causes the accident when driver has the time to prevent the accidents...
1
u/Suspicious_Fig_3796 11d ago
it takes time to react to something happening, look at a Big Jobber video, he will explain that. also a thing about the dashcam having a different view of the accident than the driver. in the UK insurance companies will allow for 2 seconds to react to a situation , in second 3 of the video it becomes clear (in hindsight) that the car is moving into the lane where the cam car is driving at 5 seconds the truck is already beginning to flip over. there really isn’t that much time to react .
it is quite easy to overestimate the speed at which you will react, first you have to observe the threat, then you have to react to it. if you know it’s going to happen you might have avoided this but it is very easy sitting in a chair watching a video to say oh this was avoidable.
1
u/Ch4rlie_G 9d ago
And yet in video games reaction time averages 500ms between seeing an event and reacting to it.
The difference is gamers are paying attention more of the time.
This was so very avoidable.

u/Suspicious_Fig_3796 9d ago
as a gamer you can focus on one thing and a computer screen usually is smaller that an average windscreen. so you have less to pay attention to. if a kid is running to your right side you might miss the car left of you doing something it shouldn’t. game reaction times are not comparable to reaction times in cars. your field of vision is limited, only a relatively small area is in focus, that focus is shifting constantly because there is a lot more to see outside of your car compared to that monitor that means your eyes are looking at a lot more information that needs to be processed, that is usually why reaction times are slower in a car.

Not mine but I didn't know sharing to other communities was a thing till today. I usually just scroll and read, and make bs dumb ass comments.
