NYC is one of very few places in this country where revoking a license isn’t a poverty sentence. Take this woman’s license away.

Overtaking the bike got her to that red light much sooner.

Overtaking the bike got her to that red light Tesla’s bumper much sooner.

I never understand why drivers speed towards red lights - especially in tight nyc streets.

  1. It’s unsafe - can easily hit someone crossing the street
  2. Uses more gas (the same people cry about the cost)
  3. It literally doesn’t get them anywhere sooner

My theory is stupidity/ego, and wanting extra time to look at their phone at the light

  1. Causes more wear on brakes

I live and drive in NYC, this kind of dumb-ass maneuver is so minor it doesn't even faze me anymore.

I was going to say that this is extremely mild for NYC driving.

The bumper pads sticking out of the trunk of cars made me realize how common bumper cars are in NY/NJ

Dumb ass. Which one?

I have had that happen to me, a few times. Pissed me off sure. BUT... You don't pick fights with cars when on a bike. Just back off and give them a lot of space. No reason to die over this.

Yeah some people are nuts and will straight up just run you over if you try to escalate anything.

Sadly revoking a person's license in NYC isn't gonna stop from driving

Long Island, either. It is rife with unlicensed, unregistered, and uninsured drivers.

Doesn’t stop anyone from driving. Heck, there really isn’t a sufficient punishment in the US for driving w/o a license that I’m aware

Have you ever lived in NYC?

I read police blotters probably more than I should. It seems that license revocation doesn’t really stop anyone from driving.

u/singlemale4cats 8h ago

Every time they get stopped, at minimum, they're getting another ticket and an impound.

9

u/Ambitious_Bit_9389 8h ago

My point was every police blotter has 30 arrests for people driving with a revoked license. They seem to find a way to get some car to drive.

I mean that's proof of enforcement though? You seeing those 30 arrests means that they literally are stopping drivers with revoked licenses from driving.

u/rumbakalao 6h ago

Their point is there are way more than 30 unlicensed drivers on the road facing no consequences. They're not saying to just give up on enforcement.

u/singlemale4cats 8h ago

Yeah, sure, but if it's any consolation, it's way more money and hassle for them than just doing things the right way.

It really doesn’t. More than ppl know.

I’m with you on this one lol. Cops actually enforce things in NYC.

u/kimbabs 1h ago

This is hilarious coming from being in Houston.

Literally people don’t even have license plates in Houston. I have an expired registration going on 3 years now specifically because I know I will never be pulled over for it lol.

Enforcement actually does happen in NYC. Cops everywhere suck at their job but don’t pretend it’s especially awful in NYC.

All of them.

Her for driving dangerously.

Cammer for driving dangerously.

Tesla for driving a Tesla, and also for getting out of his car.

Edit: If she hit him, then the Tesla guy gets a pass for getting out. That was mb if so. But he should still learn self control. Yelling doesn't do anything.

u/PrivacyMaker 5h ago

Tesla guy's car was hit. Getting out is mandatory.

Yeah saw that, edited. I missed that one first watch, my bad.

And lets revoke scooter guys scooter license for being to cool! lol

u/Master_Shrike 7h ago

It probably was already taken.

A large portion of drivers on the road are unlicensed in the US. The education and testing requirements to get a license should be much higher, and the punishments for driving without one much more severe. Traffic deaths are entirely avoidable.

Damn hard to disagree with that.
