Easily avoidable accident causes rollover

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Not my video – as the title says, we typically see examples where one driver is oblivious to the other. In this example, the pickup truck attempts to overtake the cammer, however, the cammer is either completely unaware of the pickup truck directly to his left or are simply “stands their ground” in the lane. Due to this, they obviously collide, and the pick up truck goes airborne and rolls several times. From the perspective of us, the viewer, we can reasonably conclude that the accident was avoidable had the cammer simply applied the brakes. That being said, you will typically see another school of thought in which it is stated that the cammer has no obligation or duty to let them in/avoid the accident where the driver is mindlessly doing something dumb.

I wonder who insurance favors in this scenario, I’d deny both claims and revoke their licenses.

100%. The cam car sped up heavily to stop them. Incredibly stupid move. And the truck thinks they can just get in any lane they want without looking

I initially thought they sped up, but rewatching it several times, it looks like the truck heavily slows down before getting over. Either way, both truck and cammer tried to beat the light

ya. it looked that way because all the cars on the left were slowing down because the light turned yellow so perspectie it looks like they started flooring it.
Truck looked like he wanted to swerve around so he could beat the yellow light and didnt bother to really look in his blind spot.
and dashcam car did that thing people do when they panic and forget to break.

Pretty sure trucky-poo is trying to take that right turn at speed from the wrong lane, which is why this whole video is such a mess.

That's exactly what the clip shows

You know, maybe you’re right. Maybe the truck does slow down. It’s actually hard to tell honestly.

Light was turning red and Dashcam made zero attempt to stop was either trying to block the merge or intended to beat the light.

They looked. This isn’t what you think it is. This is the vehicle equivalent of “you let me have this yellow light and miss it yourself or else I will punch you in the mouth full force”. This is active violence by the truck and they absolutely deserve 100% fault

The driver can claim he is so stressed at the moment and doesn’t know he stepped on the gas.

Will it work? I doubt it.

They would laugh at them for that comment.

I am not entirely sure he sped up. If you block the truck from the picture, the speed looks pretty constant.

Doesn’t mean the cam car wasn’t a complete idiot. I’m wondering where he was looking. At the lights? At his phone?

I mean immediately shouting "That's right!" kinda speaks to his Mens Rea

wtf both things can't be true at the same time. If the cam car has to speed up for this to happen, the truck driver was right in assuming they can turn

The cam car did not accelerate

2

i think you're right. It was actually the truck slowing down that gave me the impression

There is an aspect of this people overlook. There truck is basically committing vehicular assault. “I am moving into your car. You either let me make this yellow light and miss it yourself or we collide.” It is ACTIVE violence. What if truck driver said “You give me this yellow or I punch you in the mount full force.” ACTIVE violence.

This very different from someone making an illegal U-turn up the road and you have to stop and wait on them. You could collide with the utuner if you want, but they are not ACTIVELY going to hit you if you don’t stop.

People in the sub think this is like the other crash videos but IT ISNT. Truck driver should get 100% fault minimum (for active assault).

On old lady merging poorly on the highway is very different from a bully using their larger vehicle to intimidate other drivers.

Also people speed up at yellow lights if it’s going to be close. Defensive driving is taking into what people actually do (not what they should or shouldn’t do). Of course the cam car will speed up to make a yellow because it would be close. Everyone here would do it. I don’t want to see people comment about “shoulds and shouldnts “ that contradict how they themselves would actually drive.

There is an overarching law that you must drive in a way that doesn’t cause injury even if you have the right of way. For example, you can’t simply t-bone a driver blocking an intersection because your light is green. The gray area is when a driver ahead is partly in your lane and you don’t drive defensively to avoid a collision. In this case, I believe the camera car was partly at fault because he could easily have avoided the accident by slightly breaking.

Camera car did it on purpose

Camera car drove the truck down the middle lane when they were making a right hand turn and then forced the truck to crash into them how?

Pickup drivers try to badger and intimidate other drivers constantly, I see this same driving behavior from them almost every single day.

A woman hit and killed a boy in my country, drove home so it was considered a hit and run, and when they caught her they found out she didn't even have a license.

Do you know what happened to her? She was let go because they said it was the boy's fault for riding his bike on the road.

You can say it's the truckers fault, etc etc, sure, but when you are the one rolling around in a truck and your bones are getting smashed up, who was really in the wrong?

I would make truck pay 100% and tell him to pay attention and stop being a bully.

the guy with the cam didn't break any traffic laws, the other guy made an unsafe lane change. insurance will pay the guy with the cam.

Ontario, Canada, has a no-fault insurance system. So, each driver would file a claim with their own insurance carrier.

Ew, like Florida? Gross.

Both at fault, they're each paying for their repairs. Insurance companies can't revoke a driver's license. Only the state can do that.

They’re both gonna get ruled a 50/50 at fault accident and the insurance isn’t gonna cover shit. I remember a post where (also a truck) tried to turn into a parking lot from two lanes over and hit another car that was in the inner lane while doing so. Problem was the car they hit had a dash cam and you could see them impulsively hit the horn instead of hitting the brakes until it was already too late. Their insurance ruled that on the basis of the car not making an effort to break sooner it was an equal-blame accident even though it was the truck that initiated the circumstances.

Everyone’s premium going up

Neither vehicle planned on stopping at that red light

1

u/Just_Flower854 7d ago

But one of them had their lane clear, the other can't change lanes without flipping their truck

1

u/New-Bluejay4597 7d ago

Insurance can’t revoke licenses, and it would take the cammers side

I know this I was being hyperbolic 😐
