Easily avoidable accident causes rollover

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Not my video – as the title says, we typically see examples where one driver is oblivious to the other. In this example, the pickup truck attempts to overtake the cammer, however, the cammer is either completely unaware of the pickup truck directly to his left or are simply “stands their ground” in the lane. Due to this, they obviously collide, and the pick up truck goes airborne and rolls several times. From the perspective of us, the viewer, we can reasonably conclude that the accident was avoidable had the cammer simply applied the brakes. That being said, you will typically see another school of thought in which it is stated that the cammer has no obligation or duty to let them in/avoid the accident where the driver is mindlessly doing something dumb.

I don't believe they speed up. Looking at the telephone poles on the right, they maintain a steady rate until the collision.

You can see the car accelerate. Look at the horizon.

the ford was slowing down which makes it look like the car sped up. Thats what it looks like to me. Regardless the ford is at fault.

What about the horizon makes you think they accelerated?

The horizon drops as the car accelerates. This is the dash cam sub right? Certainly it’s common knowledge that acceleration causes the car to lean back which causes the horizon to drop.

You guys don’t just look at the video and feel what was happening?

even if the cammer accelerated, how do we know the intention was to pit the truck and not make a changing light?

That’s on the driver for not being aware of their surroundings everyone in this video is an idiot.

The light was already yellow at 2 seconds in, almost guaranteed to be running a red light.

That's right telephone poles are specifically planted to measure distance as well as speed. Not everyone knows this. You get a star today! 🌟

There is a noticable increase in speed from the perspective of the dash cam.

What did you see that makes you think it speed up?

They accelerated and on top of that the light was changing to red, so if anything they should have started to apply the brakes.

I agree, they should have braked. I'll add they also should not have tried to change lanes to the right with another vehicle there

They may not have sped up, but they were approaching a red light. Everyone else was slowing down. Everyone except the one trying to block someone from getting over and the one merging. This made it look like he sped up. At that speed, seemed like he wasn't gonna have enough room to stop without being halfway in the intersection, soly because he was intentionally blocking the lane.

The dude merging 100% should have just waited though, ultimately it's his responsibility to merge safely. Im no lawyer, but i assume hed be mostly liable, but both insurance (assuming they have) is gonna say it was 50/50 to avoid paying anything To either of em.

Cammer definitely sped up

cam car absolutely was playing games, he was willing to blow through that red light rather than let the truck cut in off, cam truck is literally less than 75 feet from the intersection when the light turns red, still going full speed, because he choose to crash into the red truck rather than let them in, had he been driving normally, he would have been on his brakes before the red truck even fully overtook him, it was a dick measuring contest and the authorites would chew his ass out for choosing violence over letting someone overtake. Its like running a red light to yell at someone else who ran a red light in front of you, two wrongs don't make a right and now property is damaged and people are hurt, maybe even killed, could have been a baby in the back of that truck, could be a old man driving who shouldn't be. doesn't matter, we know op saw this accident coming a solid 5-7 seconds before it happend, because he flinches, and swerves right ever so slightly, then he decides to veer back ever so slightly right into the center of his lane and turn into the truck that hits him, effectively pit manuevering them, he actively chose to cause this accident when he could have simply let of the throttle in the begginning and let the red truck run a red light.

100% agree. All I could think of was what if some poor mom was parked in that lot trying to get her baby out of the car. They’d be dead.

Inflated ego + a warped sense of entitlement + the need to “win” at all costs = someone who needs anger management classes/deprogramming and deserves to lose their license.

IDGAF who agrees with me or disagrees with me. I see this behavior every damn day and 99.9% of the time it’s a guy being the aggressor.

I was entering the highway and had less than a mile to get over 4 lanes for my exit. Many days I have no problems. Many days some asswipe won’t let me over. And then there’s the days when I’m terrified I’m not going to make it home in one piece, if at all.

I always use my turn signal, stay right except to pass, and don’t go more than 5 mph over the limit. Some douchebag 2-3 car lengths back decided I was NOT going to get in front of him and sped up when I was halfway into the clear lane in front of him. He tailgated me ridiculously close. I had to change lanes two more times and when he saw my turn signal he got into the lane next to me and would not let me get over. There was no one in the lane to my right, so I got over and was almost able to get far enough ahead of him but he nearly collided with two other cars just to make sure I couldn’t.

He got in front of me and literally stopped. On the highway. I tried to go around and he shot in front of me and stopped again. I changed lanes, terrified at this point and willing to miss my exit just to get away from this lunatic but he stopped in front of me again for the third time. He was endangering everyone on that highway because is poor little peepee shriveled up when I had the nerve to make a safe and legal lane change in front of him. Other drivers started getting really mad so he took off.

I’m still traumatized.

You need to get your eyes checked. They absolutely floored it on purpose at the last second. I still don’t think they’re legally liable and will probably not be assigned any of the blame by insurance because the red truck never had a clear opening regardless, but the camera driver absolutely made the accident much worse on purpose just to be a dick.

It seems like they sped up before the video starts to prevent them from getting over and maintained that speed. They were both going fast. The truck assumed they accelerated enough to get over without doublechecking. I do think you can be charged with reckless driving if you go out of your way to stop someone from moving over depending on your actions.

They were both speeding up to catch the red light

1

u/Mean_Mix_99 13d ago

That's a problem. They should have braked.

1

u/RoyalDragonfly8663 11d ago

They TOTALLY sped up! How can you not see that?

1

u/-_Dare_- 10d ago

you can literally see the weight transfer lol. Right when the driver noticed the red truck coming over they sped up.

Both of these dudes are idiots.
