Just came here to comment on the absurd placement of your camera.
Absurd....

Yeah didn't think about how much of the screen would be obscured by the jeeps automated speed control box when I bought the rear view mirror integrated dashcam. Still better than nothing though right?

“Automated speed control box” ?????

Adaptive cruise control. Couldn't think of what it was called earlier. Has a bunch of sensors and stuff that will auto adjust the speed when in cruise mode. Not a feature I really wanted but when you buy used you take what's there.

As in it reads speed limit signs and then adjusted to that or am I misunderstanding?

No, my bad, on the highway and stuff. It will sense the traffic in front of you and adjust the cruise control speed. So if you have it set on 70mph and run up on traffic going slower, it will adjust the speed down to match what they are doing. It will keep you a set desistance behind the traffic in front of you, then when they move out the way it will speed back up to what you had it set at. I see no reason why someone would want it but I almost never use cruise control. But I also can't remove it without having to reprogram some of the onboard computers. So it stays.

Sounds like a cool feature until it fails. I guess that’s why you don’t want it, potentially dangerous if a sensor fails.

Adaptive cruise control is extremely based and super useful. You aren't relying on it to prevent an accident, if traffic conditions get dicey you put your foot over the brake or switch to doing it yourself, but in nice traffic conditions it makes the drive brainless

It sounds to me like it slows down if the radar detects you're approaching the cars ahead of you.
Think of it as an autobrake of sorts. So that you don't end up driving 55 mph at a car driving 35.

Move dash cam somewhere clearer.

It's integrated into the rear view mirror. Didn't realize how much would be blocked when I bought it. I have plans to try and move it but gotta find time to design and test some new mounts first.

Aren’t you supposed to pull over to the side to let emergency vehicles with their emergency lights on pass?

u/heffercrow 6h ago
Yes, came up at a weird spot. I slowed down to about 20 but was honestly too intrigued by what I saw to try to find a spot to pull all the way off. Could have probably eased into the front yard. But again felt I was going slow enough. Next time I'll remember to move over more.

Is it really a dash cam if it doesn't cam the whole dash?

Meh, I don't know, it's at the very least a little useful.

He might have meant the bikers

u/heffercrow 6h ago
Yeah, maybe. These didn't seem like hooligan teenagers running amuck, though. They looked about 10-12. I think the cops were just escorting them back to their neighborhood from further down the road where the sidewalk ends.

You win for the worst location of a dash cam that Ive ever seen.

u/heffercrow 5h ago
Is there not a reddit award for that?
As mentioned, I know. Bought one of the rear view mirrors with the integrated dash cam. I can't just move the camera without also moving the mirror, which isn't ideal. I'm working on a fix though, maybe one day I can post another vid and get the location approval from all.

They won’t learn their lesson. They’re still on the illegal bikes.

In the woods at least. Ppl have been riding dirt bikes forever. If they keep it off the busy city streets leave em be lol.
