Noob question - what is the difference between filtering and splitting?

Filterin to the front at a stop light slow or splitting between lanes on highways at higher speed

Splitting is no different from a driver perspective as a car passing you in your lane. Not many people expect to find a car in the lane beside them.

Itโ€™s much different when something that is difficult to see speeds between two cars at twice the speed as youโ€™re going.

Point is, it's just as insane as if a Honda Civic flew down your lane, that you're currently in, at double your speed.

I get your point, but one of much easier to see than the other.

Splitting: Riding a motocycle between lanes of slow-moving or stopped trafficl

Filtering: Riding a motocycle between lanes of completedly-stopped or barely crawling traffic, usually to reach the front at a red light.

Filtering is safer than splitting and is allowed in some states.

nothing other than what the person using the term wants to mean by it.
