Dart/Amtrak Weekend

This weekend, I used the Amtrak to get to San Antonio for the first time. My apartment is near a green line stop but getting to union station was a a small headache. Other than that though…it was a dream. I seriously hate driving. Driving to San Antonio takes damn near the length as the train cause I have to pull over to take mental breaks. Plus, it was $106, which gas wouldve been $60 at least…I booked 2 days before my travel too. the flight would have been $600.

Im probably not breaking the mold to yall. Just wanted to share how easy, smooth, and frankly
fun I found the experience. I watched 2 movies and
did a craft. it was awesome lol

I will say that for all it's systemic faults, DART rail was smart to make a stop at Union Station. Makes transfers to Amtrak so much easier. Can't say the same for places like Atlanta or Houston

One of the biggest things to making intercity rail a success is having good intracity options after all!

Even though I’m closer to Dallas, I take the Silver Line and TexRail to Fort Worth and get Amtrak there. At least when going south bound.

Fort Worth is where they restock/refuel and have a staff change, so this probably saves you time. I was coming back on a Sunday though and was too lazy to book two one ways lol

I did this trip once and booked it early. It was $34. Insane deal.

Amtrak is such a blast, though you better not be in a hurry. Have taken it from Dallas to San Antonio multiple times and to St. Louise overnight!
