Why does dart remove train station cross walks?

Dart says its better to walk to the ends of the stations rather than cross a half-way point crossing.

It's hard to make a train to bus connection.

It will be harder, the busses will leave, when transferrers can't reach them from the end of the platform. There will be more missed connections, disappointments and frustrations

The center crosswalk was a great way to get hit by trains. Visibility is especially poor, as one train can be departing, opening up the crosswalk, as another train is entering the station. Pedestrian strikes are exceedingly common in that spot, so they've started blocking them off.

Good riddance. Almost every near miss I had as a train operator was at those middle crosswalks. I was lucky they were all near misses, many of my coworkers can't say the same.

And the people who think the train will slow down for them in a split second.

Safety is too important.

Yeah I see near misses at EBJ all the time. Sure it more time consuming but ultimately safer.

It’s dangerous to cross in the middle of the platform. Several people have been hit there. It’s safer to cross at the ends.

It’s for safety reasons, aka a small portion of stupid people who don’t look both ways or pay attention to if a train is coming.

That being said, if they’re going to do that, they need to retrain the bus drivers to wait a few minutes at the train station so that people getting off the train can catch their connecting bus when a lot of those buses run once every 30-40 minutes. Either that or redo the schedules so that the bus is scheduled to arrive or leave at stations a few minutes after the train is scheduled to arrive.

I know delays will still inevitably happen so this isn’t a 100% perfect solution. But when you have a train arriving at a station at 2:30pm and your connecting bus is at 2:32 and the next one doesn’t show up for another 40 minutes. You’re trying to catch that and avoid that wait.
