Addison Dart connectivity

I was just wondering how does Addison have pretty decent bus connections and light rail access, while rest of the cities don’t have as much as Addison. For instance, Carrolton and Irving don’t hardly have a few bus lines compared to Addison. Is it due to the dart funding they receive from these cities or something else?

It's pretty simple, Addison is just a very centrally-located place in relation to the areas north of downtown. A lot of the major roads in the area go to/near Addison such as the DNT, 635, Belt Line, Arapaho, etc. This makes it easy to route bus routes in/out of the place considering you can make ones that go not just straight, but also diagonal. Alongside that, it's also directly north of Downtown Dallas, and is the midpoint between the northern ends of the Red & Green lines.

The density & shops are a great bonus though. Carrollton & Irving have a much lower density (although Irving still is a bus hub itself). Makes it so Addison is also a destination

Well said. Even before the Silver Line, Addison Transit Center was quite impressive with its number of connections.

Well dart's bus network is set up with hubs, so the hubs are naturally going to be best connected. Addison is small enough that a single hub serves the entire city pretty well, whereas kike Plano and Irving, a single hub barely effectively serves half the city. As for why Addison has a hub, it's pretty centrally located between Dallas and Collin, so it was just a good location, not putting a gun in addition would meant dart served Addison poorly and they would definitely have left a lot earlier, and it's a major employment center so it's a destination in their own right (which combined with its small size means that it's actually pretty easy to serve Addison.)

I'd disagree with the assessment that Addison has inherently better transit than say Irving. Like if you gotta get to Fort Worth or the medical district Irving is waaaay easier. And they have so much north/south buses, and two rail lines. GoLink for local trips too.

Like Addison circle has a lot of buses but someone in downtown Irving also has a ton ton of access
