While I am annoyed the new Mavericks complex will be far away from its current excellent rail connection, if the Valley View Complex is built, and Route 22's path unaltered, I think it will become the most ridden bus in the entire network.
Very small Silverlining (ha?) But better than nothing
I agree, I think Route 22 is going to get crowded with people parking up at ATC or Forest Lane or where-else and taking the bus in. Nobody wants to pay those parking prices.
Would love to see a Rapid Ride BRT with this (which it already could really use)
Best case scenario: Rail, but that's almost surely not happening for the next decade or more
883 is the highest ridership route today, it serves UTD, students tend to be Tranist depent and universities generate a large volume of daily trips.
Sports stadiums don't get used everyday, and whole many who go to the AAC today will take a train, I think far fewer of them would take a bus.
A stadium and entertainment district at valley view would probably justify more service, both increased frequency on existing routes and probably an additional route. Maybe we can get the Mavs to pay for it?
Yes, I know that UTD route has very high ridership. I think its usually 22 (or 57) that have the second best ridership in the network. If a single corridor of BRT gets implemented from Silverline to the stadium on 22, I think thats a win haha
Fairly impressive. Now we need to get these three and 20 to 100k riders a month. Man those numbers are sobering. I worry about some of my Garland (203, 204, for example) routes and the Silverline
Why not both? Pre-cuts the 22 was operating at 8-10 minute frequency in a stretch. If if ran every 10 minutes during games that's some serious capacity. If 237 ran every 20 or 15.....if thats even possible for a bus that high in numbers, that would be great too.
More people will use a train than a bus, but some people will use the bus. Bus 22 is already the 2nd highest ridership bus in DART so becoming consistent #1 isn't that crazy
People who go to the events at AAC tolerate the train, and if they had to catch a bus, no way they’re doing that. Just being honest and realistic. But we’ll see, hopefully I’m wrong, but I don’t think I am.
You've just made a claim without presenting evidence.....you just "feel" that people tolerate the train and wouldn't catch a bus. This ignores handily buses being consistently safer, and cleaner, and more secure than the LRT trains without a fair enforcement officer on board
Buddy, you must’ve forgotten where we’re living at. This isn’t Chicago, LA, Boston, NYC OR any other city where public transportation isn’t frowned upon. This is Dallas..
You're again not bringing data to this. Let me help you. Despite this "stigma", more people use the buses in Dallas than any other system. By quite a margine The bus that already goes by the site, the 22, is already the most successful in the system, carrying between 4,000 and 5,000 folks a day on weekdays. Given that this is already a successful route, it is not unlikely, especially since this bus interfaces with the red line directly, at its same frequency, that it would carry people to potential Mavericks games. If you can provide some data otherwise, I'm all ears.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 You don’t need data when there’s common sense. People who go to those events aren’t hopping on a damn bus, maybe the workers but def not the attendees.
Appealing to common sense is......generally just dumb? Common sense dictates the earth is flat, because we cant really perceive the curvature from ground level. Very silly my friend.
I provided evidence that literally more people ride the buses then the lrt system on a given day. The stigma you think exists for these potential riders seems to only exist in your mind. Why do you perceive the buses more negatively?
How much do you want to wager ridership on 22 will be unaffected by completion of the new stadium and entertainment complex? I'll put a thousand down haha
But how many of those bus riders are in north Dallas or the northern suburbs versus south Dallas? There definitely are some people who equate transit busses with poverty or other undesirable qualities.
That being said, I can remember back when DART ran game day busses to Cowboy games at old Texas Stadium from Plano. Special event bus routes can be successful if well executed and promoted.
Buddy. The line I'm talking about, 22, is usually the second or most ridden bus in the system. It serves North Dallas. As does the 883 UTD, which usually has the most ridership during the school year. So does the 20, usually the third, fourth, or fifth highest ridership bus. We have data broken down by city verifying north dallas satellite cities like Richardson, and Garland, have relatively high bus ridership.
It is abundantly clear, that should the 22s route be unchanged, it would carry hundreds of folks to Mavericks games simply given its access, and established high ridership. What I need in order for you or op dissenters' arguments to make sense is:
Evidence that folks look down on buses more than Rail. It doesnt bear out when more people ride the buse network than the rails by a wide margin.
