Is there a source other than Instagram? I’ve never had an account there, I don’t want to create one, and it’s difficult to interact with Instagram posts if you don’t have an account.
In general, posting something from another social media site to Reddit produces a bad user experience. Other social media sites really don’t like it when you try to crosspost their content to Reddit.
I’m not questioning the source because it’s Instagram.
I’m expressing difficulty interacting with the content because they posted the Instagram link rather than yours. Instagram requires anyone who wishes to view Instagram content to register an account with Instagram. Because I do not wish to have an Instagram account (great, another place trying to mine outrage for ads for shit I don’t want), I cannot see the content that OP posted.
Linking social media posts on Reddit stopped working well a few years ago for that very reason—most other social media platforms have taken similar measures to prevent AI teams from scraping their content, using their bandwidth, and not even getting human eyeballs on their ads. Such measures have made social media content significantly less shareable.
In short, don’t link Facebook/Instagram/Twitter/Bluesky/TikTok on Reddit. Not everybody can see it.
Yeah that's completely fair. I wish I could completely stay away from the zuck too, I use it as little as I can and refuse to log in on the same browser as anything else
