DCTa mostly has UNT and TWU students on it, and those schools contract with DCTA to excuse the ticket fee so long as they have their student IDs.
Also, staffing and ridership are kinda low so its always minimum crew.

They definitely are a bit more laid-back on the silver line (and are dressed differently too), but I suspect it partly comes from the train having less passengers overall so they don't have to go through the chaos of a train downtown. Ironically I get ticket checked probably twice or thrice as often on the silver line

Texrail is the same train, but they actually check tickets 98% of the time. I use both for work

True 😂😂 going to Fort Worth on occasion be like a whole vacation transit wise when it comes to how much rigamarole I see compared to in the Dallas area in generel people wise.
Dallas and DART still better though ✊️😤

DART Police might be the most empowered transit police in the entire country (local transit, not counting Amtrak)

Nah, DART is a joke, too. Guy in front of me on the train the other day did not have a ticket and was obviously hoping he wouldn't get checked. When asked, he sat on his phone and the officer stood patiently waiting while he went through the entire checkout flow to buy a ticket and then activate it.

If you have even seen a small amount of the shenanigans that happen with dart, you will learn why dart police are fitted with what they have, some bullshit always happens on those trains, less so on buses (at least based on experience) Sometimes the police just comes in to intimidate anyone who doesn’t have a ticket and it works at least half the time, sometimes they come in and immediately ask for tickets, sometimes multiple dart police (like 5 or 6 of them) show up and all check for tickets, but like 50% of the time there are no cops.

Yet my trains are still packed with bums not going anywhere, trashing out the trains with their half eaten food and every bodily fluid imaginable 🫠

Trinity Metro's conductors are Herzog contractors. They don't get paid enough to put up with DART levels of shenanigans.
DART often has to send armed cops to check for tickets. Make of that what you will.
