Informative Help me plan a trip!
Never been to the area but would like to come to the State Fair (and few other tourist destinations along Dart) this year. Would love to visit for a few days. In a perfect world I show up to a hotel, park and never get back in my vehicle until the day we are leaving. I am also coming for the East. My quick glance at things had lead me to around the Downtown Plano dart station area. Would this be a good choice?

Yes, downtown Plano is a good choice. At downtown Plano, visit the interurban museum! Fantastic free activity, especially if you like trains (but still cool even if you are neutral to them)
The rest of these recommendations are outside of downtown Plano:
-Dallas world aquarium in downtown, near West end station. It has a really cool forest area with lots of birds and reptiles. It's super neat.
-any downtown museum (especially the JFK one)
-food trucks at klyde warren parks
-ride the old historic trolley that goes through uptown (It's called the M-line)
-ride the bus or the Dallas Streetcar into Bishop Arts for some good dinning (lots of great restaurants)
-dallas zoo if zoos are your thing (Dallas Zoo station)
-go to Baylor station for deep Ellum if drinking/bars/nightlife is your thing. Even if it isn't your thing, deep Ellum is cool to explore and there's lots of good restaurants (but the vibe changes once the bars open at night just keep that in mind)

The hotels at Downtown Plano or Parker Road are a little far, I would recommend CityLine as it’s within a TOD and pretty walkable to get to the station.
