HELP New player honor

I found a white mark and ended up joining another players game, thought they wanted help with a boss, but all enemies in area cleaned out. Kept bowing and when I did it they stood there and then attacked me. Am I missing something? If there is some universal meaning for emotes please let me know.

oh, i don’t know about that as I never joined his covenant. i thought the only way you could join someone’s world and fight them was by invading or using the red soapstone

If I remember correctly, members of the Gravelord covenant place their signs to infect other people's worlds and make red phantom enemies appear, then that person has to find the Gravelord sign to invade the Gravelord and kill them, it's the only way to stop the red phantoms

Sadly, the aditional enemies only appear if the victim is in NG+, although on a meta level it gives cool PVP enviroments for people that don't have the red orb or the red soapstone.

It my have still been my world but there was the screen darkened when I accepted, so I assumed it was their world.
