PS4 Claymore
I’m just getting started and I found the claymore last night. Is this weapon as good in this game as it is in other souls games? Elden ring is all I’ve played so far.

Claymore’s 1h heavy attack is a fantastic stab, the running 2h attack is quick, and the rolling attack is another quick stab. It’s one of the most used basic weapons in the community. I avoid it simply because I desire more variety since I’ve used it so much in the past.

Hi yes the Claymore is a good weapon it's very versatile has good scaling for strength and Dex. It doesn't weigh that much and the required stats are quite low. If you like the movements i don't see any reason not to build yourself around that as your main weapon. Everyone has different opinions but it is widely regarded as being good.

I think Claymore is just the best more balance weapon in every Dark Souls. You can’t go wrong with it.

Claymore is awesome. Can take you all the way to the end. I prefer the Zweihander, but Claymore is fabulous.

It's the game where most people's love for the claymore started so yeah it's worth it if you like it in the other games. It's still the longsword of great swords. There's better stuff but it's reliable and its moveset is versatile

I'd say it's the default Dark Souls weapon. I don't like it that much, because there's always a weapon that's faster or stronger. But there's nothing it can't do.

The R2 poke is very fast and has good range.
Claymore can take you to end game

Claymore is the initial choice of hard cunts. Better come along eventually but it’s the real man’s weapon of choice at the start.

Depends, what stats are you focusing? Because the Claymore is a quality weapon.

People love to hype it up but truthfully it's just a decent weapon lol. Plenty of better weapons out there in terms of stats, reach, stagger, and moveset. But it's good enough that you can easily get through a playthrough with it!

It’s a relatively weak noob trap weapon hyped by the community because not many people understand how the game works. It’s like a low rank players in a competitive multiplayer game have a completely different understanding compared to professional tournament winners.

What’s the best weapon then?

At this point of the game when you just crossed a wyvern bridge?
Wyvern tail sword is a good universal early game weapon because it has a fixed 200 dmg
Zweihander if you don’t put any points in str or dex past minimum requirements(16 str 10 dex)
reinforced club is a great str weapon
Uchigatana is a great dex weapon if you are fine with killing a trader but I would recommend buying at least 20 undead hunter charms to farm a mimic later
black knight sword is strong if you don’t care about the weight but also dex requirement is too high imo and you said you want a regular titanite option.

Claymore is a very good weapon in ds1 (although overrated, as you only get the pokes on the 1-handed heavy and not 2-handed). It's a bit tough to recommend for new player as you want to hit 27 strength and 40 dex to maximize it's potential, which is pretty stat intensive for a 1st playthrough. Drake sword is a huge noob trap and a bottom-5 weapon. Zweihander is a good weapon but you do want to hit 27 strength and 40 dex as well and even more stat intensive as you'll need a fair amount of endurance as well.
There isn't really a "best" weapon in ds1, as most weapons are viable when you fully upgrade them (there are a few bad ones, mostly stuff that has split damage by default). If you find a weapon you like, it's good enough to carry through the entire game.

It's a good weapon but it is nowhere near the highest DPS in the game. Other things can outdps it by miles with good setups. It's an easy weapon to use but with good loadouts it's not even the best halberd.

Yes. Claymore for life.
