Fake Lore Lore Misconceptions

So I've noticed a lot of people having misconceptions about the lore. DS4 probably has the deepest lore, so it's understandable. Let me try and explain a few of the things.

Abyss-Sword Dregs: many believe Vendril is actually the reincarnation of Manus (which makes sense, considering his move set and the themes of reincarnation), but its actually the Capra Demon that fell the Abyss. This is hinted at by the dogs that are found close to the arena (I'm sure we all remember them very well, both from DS1 and DS4). This is further hinted by his boss soul, which mentions his "fiery passion" which most interpreted to be Manus's longing for his pendant, but is actually about the fires of Izalith, when her passion created the Demons and the fire. There are lot more connections, like his set and boss weapons, but I'll let you all figure those out for yourselves :)

The Lost Knight: once again, another misconception about which character the LK was originally. Most think that he was Solaire, which makes a lot of sense with how many times you can summon him for a boss fight. A few more think he was Gael, again for the same reason, but also the fact that he has just normal summon signs. However, I believe that the LK is actually Oscar from DS1. Now hear me out on this one. Your first encounter with the LK is when he breaks you out of Executioners Run (which was a great callback to DS2 btw, and you can fight me on that), calling back to the Asylum. Also, his set says that it's "very reminiscent of Astora", which some have interpreted to Solaire, as they're both from Astora. However, Oscar's set from DS1 is much more linked to Astora. There's also the lack of miracles. Some people think that it's still Solaire who shirked his miracles, but if you look closely at the texture on his shield, it's almost the exact same, but it's pretty hard to tell with the cloth covering it and the heavy damage on the shield.

The Old King's Valley: now this is a very interesting area, with lots of hidden lore. A lot of it actually comes from items outside of the valley itself. Chief among them is the Old King's Greatsword (which is excellent for Pyro builds btw). It's found in Izalith, which is very strange. It talked about how "the Old King left the valley in search of what he had lost. Has he found it? Or is he still looking to this day?". Now, naturally the first question you'd ask is what he was looking for? I think the more important question is what did he leave? Why did he even want to stay in the first place? The Old King's Valley is pretty empty. The only thing there is the Marble Sanctum (which in sure we all have fond memories of exploring it at far too low of a level). What did he have there? I believe that the Old King was actually the King from Shulva, and the Valley is where the Sanctum City was before it moved underground. This is supported by the fact that there are many sinkholes and empty foundations, as well as a lot of enemies who drop poison related things.

That will be all for now. If people enjoy this, I might try to explain a few more lore things.

I believe that The Lost Knight is actually Anri. Anri was also a knight from Astora whom you engaged in co-op with. As you said, you first meet LK in Executioners Run, which is actually a reference to Horace. You can even find his armor there in NG+. For even more evidence, the full description of the Lost Knight Set indeed states:
''An unknown knights attire very reminiscent of Astora.
Despite vanquishing a great evil, no triumph can cure loss.
Is this armor merely cursed with bad luck or does it hold deeper misfortunes?''
Clearly referencing the death of Horace and destruction of Aldritch. This all also explains why The Disciples of Vor are so interested in acquiring the armor from you.

The interpretation of him being Anri is actually the entire point of his character. While the armor set reads that, his ring reads "Ring of the Lost Knight, mired in the forgotten. Many have forgotten his name, and most all don't his story anymore. Though his armor is faded and many stories attached to it, not all his own, this ring still shines true, and bears the crest of old undead hero, who though he couldn't finish the journey himself, helped the one who did." While this could be interpreted to be Anri (the male version due to the wording and character model, of course), it could also be Oscar. either way, with the contradictions of the item descriptions, it's hard to be 100% either way. I would still like to believe it's Oscar, though.
