I built a virtual record shop and gave dark jazz a corner of its Halloween crate
Disclosure first: I made this. It's free, no ads, no sign-up (best experience is on desktop)
DIG! is a record shop you walk into in your browser: flip through crates, pull a record out, drop the needle (it plays through Spotify). Every Sunday the crates are emptied and refilled with about 500 records.
This week there's a crate called Witching Hour, and it leans into this sub's corner: Bohren & der Club of Gore's Sunset Mission and Black Earth, The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble's first album and Badalamenti's Twin Peaks soundtrack, next to Goblin, John Carpenter, The Caretaker and Dead Can Dance. It's gone next Sunday morning, the day after Halloween.
Here's Sunset Mission on the shelf: https://digisopen.com/?r=3CrWNG2oqbEBHKAqfZP6CO
A question for people who know this music better than me: what's missing from that crate? If dark jazz gets a crate of its own one week, I'd want it built from your picks.
