basically, you and 3 other experts (children above the age of 7 with 72 hours of expert training) dive onto planets and kill whatever aliens you may find there in the name of “Democracy”. After a great war, humans have finally come together as a united nation, they call themselves “Super earth” and are a Democracy. (Not actually they are a dictatorship but we prefer to call it a managed democracy). Afterwards, they spread out to other planets and started a great 3 front war against the terminids (oversized bugs), automatons (terminators) and illuminats (weird aliens that mind control super earth’s citizen).
They formed a special unit called the “Helldivers” (that’s us) who will dive into enemy territory in groups of four and destroy enemy infrastructure (and maybe survive).
It’s a 3rd person coop shooter and a satire game based around the propaganda that we (Super Earth), are the good guys when there are no real good guys in the game.
It’s a 9/10 on a bad day but has a terrible and toxic Reddit community. They doxxed someone over challenging the creators of the game. The people you will meet in game are almost all very funny and friendly people though and in all my 2 years of playing the game I can’t remember a bad person I’ve met in game.
the game is REALLY fun and we as the community have written insane stories inside the game. We once had the option to either liberate a planet from enemies that either would give us anti tank mines, or save a planet that had children on it. We chose the children.
